II. Cultivation of Paulownia Saplings

1. Sapling cultivation is mostly carried out by the root-burying method. Dig out its roots, preferably one- or two-year-old ones, about the thickness of two fingers, and it is best that there are no wounds on them. Cut them all into small sections of about 15 cm, then bury them together in relatively soft soil and water them moderately, and they will survive.

2. In winter, dig out the roots that were heeled in and transplant them into the open field, paying attention to the spacing between plants and rows. Also pay attention to the low temperatures in winter, control the temperature, and expose them to more sunlight to help the saplings overwinter better. When the saplings grow to two or three meters tall, they will develop side branches, which should be pruned regularly to promote better growth of the main trunk. Of course, if they are considered too small, they can be left to grow for another two years.
