How to Grow Garlic Sprouts? A Detailed Guide to the Latest Correct Planting Steps
I. Sowing Season
Because the seed varieties chosen differ, there is no particularly fixed time. Generally speaking, sowing is done in October, and by June of the following year the garlic sprouts will have grown and can be harvested. However, if it is in a greenhouse, then the requirements for timing are not so strict, and sowing can even be done in winter.
II. Choosing the Variety
When sowing, pay attention to the variety; it is best to choose small-clove varieties, such as "Baimaya" and others. After these varieties grow into garlic sprouts, their quality is better than that of large-clove varieties.
III. Preparing the Soil and Sowing
One week before sowing, choose a suitable place for sowing. Then, dig out the original bed soil and pile it to the side, then spread a layer of horse manure and press it firm. Pay attention to the thickness, about 10 to 15 cm. This is to ensure the soil temperature stays within the range suitable for garlic sprout growth; if the surrounding temperature is fairly suitable, it need not be spread. After spreading, put the soil on top of it, with a thickness of 10 to 12 cm, and make sure it is even. An appropriate amount of animal manure can also be mixed into the soil as fertilizer; be sure to use rotted manure. Once prepared, the seeds can be sown into the soil.
IV. Subsequent Care
After sowing, the temperature and light must be suitable. Around June of the following year, the garlic sprouts can be harvested.
