Mix some maifan stone into succulent potting soil for sturdy roots that grow fatter and fatter
Using maifan stone to grow succulents has always been fairly controversial, with opinions both for and against it. Personally, I think maifan stone really is a good thing for growing succulents, so it always has a place in my succulent soil mix. Below, let's talk about how to use maifan stone to grow succulents.
Maifan stone is a natural silicate mineral, whose main component is inorganic aluminosilicate. It contains all the macroelements needed by animals and plants. If plants can absorb these "vitamins," they can grow comprehensively and more healthily, so when we use it to grow succulents, it can make them grow fatter and fatter.
I generally mix perlite, maifan stone and peat soil in a ratio of 1:4:5 to make nutrient soil, then mix in two or three granules of compound fertilizer, stir thoroughly, and it is ready to use. Personally, I think this soil-mixing method is simple and easy to use.
Maifan stone can stabilize and balance the physical functions of the soil, so it also acts as a soil amendment, can improve soil structure and effectively improve soil quality.
Besides directly mixing maifan stone into nutrient soil, maifan stone can also be spread on the surface of succulent potting soil. Its drainage and air permeability are also very good, so even if we occasionally water a little too much, it does not matter.
Of course, it is not omnipotent. Maifan stone also has disadvantages, such as being somewhat alkaline and having relatively poor water retention, so when growing succulents, it is best not to use it alone. It should be used together with other granules, added more or less. Everyone has their own succulent-growing formula, and only what works smoothly for you is the best.
