Detailed Guide to the Latest Beheading Method for Alocasia (Dumb Cane)
Take the original plant out of its pot, being careful not to damage the roots. Prune away all problematic stems and leaves, and also cut off any rotten roots. After pruning, dilute carbendazim with water and soak all the cut ends in it for 20-30 minutes. Finally, plant it in soil and provide good care so that the Alocasia gradually regains its vitality.
1. Removing the Original Plant from Its Pot
First, before beheading, take the original plant out of its pot. For example, you can tap the side of the pot a few times with your hand to create a gap between the plant and the pot, then hold it and turn it over, and finally remove the pot. Be sure not to damage the plant when removing it from the pot; just be very careful.
2. Beheading Treatment
After removing it from the pot, prepare sterilized pruning tools and prune away all problematic stems and leaves of the Alocasia. Then deal with the soil ball around the roots, keeping only a small portion of it, and cut off any diseased, withered and old roots one by one.
3. Disinfection Treatment
After pruning, carry out disinfection. Prepare an appropriate amount of carbendazim solution diluted with water and soak the Alocasia in the diluted water for about 20-30 minutes. Then take it out and place it in a cool, ventilated environment. Make sure all cut ends of the plant are soaked.
4. Planting in a Pot
Prepare a flower pot of suitable size and appropriate soil, plant the Alocasia in the soil, and let the roots fully contact the potting soil. Finally, gently press the soil firm, water appropriately to keep the environment moist, and provide good light and warm care so that the Alocasia gradually regains its vitality.
