Snake plant, also known as mother-in-law's tongue, is a perennial evergreen plant. Because of its graceful plant shape and beautiful leaves, it is very suitable for growing as a foliage potted plant. Although snake plants are easy to keep alive, keeping them thriving is rather difficult, and we need to master certain care techniques.

During the growing season, snake plants usually send up quite a few new shoots and new leaves, and it is precisely the growing season that is better for enjoying them. To get snake plants to burst out with lots of new shoots, the editor recommends a few care methods for everyone.

1. Use peanut shells and melon seed shells to grow snake plants

Peanut shells and melon seed shells contain large amounts of phosphorus and potassium, and especially after fermentation and decomposition, they can provide the plant with rich phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. Moreover, using peanut shells and melon seed shells in flower pots can also improve the soil and increase the looseness and air permeability of the potting soil. Therefore, they are very suitable for growing snake plants.

We can first collect the peanut shells and melon seed shells, then put them into a transparent container and leave it in the sun for a week. After that, take them out and crush them, then directly spread them on the surface of the potting soil. In winter they can play a role in keeping warmth, and in summer they can provide shading. And as you water, the nutrients in the shells will be carried into the potting soil for the plant to absorb.

Of course, we can also put them into a plastic bag, sprinkle in some insecticide, and seal it well. Then store it in a warm and ventilated place, and after about 3 months they will ferment and decompose, after which they can be taken out and used as flower fertilizer for snake plants.

2. Use aspirin to grow snake plants

If the snake plants in your home are very hard-pressed to burst with shoots and grow new leaves, we can use aspirin to change this situation. This is mainly because aspirin contains abundant salicylic acid, and salicylic acid has the effect of promoting plant rooting, sprouting, and growth. Using it to stimulate the plant to sprout quickly and produce more shoots has a very obvious effect.

First, crush the aspirin, then dissolve and dilute it with water at a ratio of 1:500, and then directly water the solution onto the snake plant. It can be watered about once a month, and within 2 months, the plant will rapidly send up new shoots, and in great numbers.
