The Latest Snake Plant Care Methods and Precautions
The leaves of the snake plant are very large, upright, and firm, and the leaves are covered with patterns, so it can be recognized at a glance among many green plants. Its leaves also have very high ornamental value, and its care method is relatively simple, making it easy to keep alive.
However, no matter how easy a flowering plant is to grow, it still requires some effort from us to grow it well. Especially for plants like the snake plant, whose leaves look very vigorous and full of vitality, they should be cared for even more attentively. In order to care well for potted snake plants, we need to master certain precautions and methods.
1. If the care environment is suitable, the root system of the snake plant often grows relatively quickly, so we must choose a relatively large flower pot for it, but it should not be too deep.
2. Usually pay attention to changes in the potting soil, mainly to see whether the potting soil has become compacted. Once the potting soil is found to have become compacted, promptly remove the surface layer of potting soil. You may loosen the soil appropriately, but do not damage the root system.
3. If its root system is found to be crowded together, repot it promptly. Only after changing to a pot one size larger can the plant distribute its root system better within it.
4. The place where the snake plant is placed should face the sun, and the light should be bright, but at the same time strong direct light should be avoided, and even more so exposure to the scorching sun, otherwise its leaves are likely to be sunburned. Place it in a semi-shaded spot where it can fully receive scattered light as much as possible.
5. Water promptly, but control the frequency well to avoid excessive watering causing water accumulation in the pot and leading to root rot. Usually, it is only necessary to keep the potting soil slightly moist.
6. After the snake plant sprouts new shoots, appropriately cover some cultivation soil in the pot to better promote the growth of the new shoots.
7. In order to meet and promote the growth of the snake plant, it is necessary to appropriately apply additional fertilizer to supplement nutrients. Topdressing about once a month is enough, mainly with nitrogen fertilizer.
