A withered bromeliad may be caused by unsuitable temperatures; when the temperature is too high, move it to a cool place for care, and when the temperature is too low, keep it indoors and make sure the room temperature stays above 10°C. Too much light can also cause the bromeliad to wither, and at this point you need to promptly provide shade measures so it grows in a semi-shaded environment.

How to rescue a withered bromeliad

1. Improve the temperature

Bromeliads like to grow in a warm environment; they are neither cold-tolerant nor heat-tolerant. If the withering is caused by unsuitable temperatures, you can move the plant to a place with a suitable temperature for care. When the temperature is too high, move the plant to a cool place for care; when the temperature is too low, move it indoors and make sure the temperature stays above 10°C, and the plant will recover its health.

2. Shade measures

Bromeliads need plenty of sunlight to grow, but they cannot be exposed to strong direct sun for long periods. In daily care, they should be placed in a spot with plenty of bright, indirect light. If the bromeliad withers because of too much light, you can promptly provide shade measures so it grows in a semi-shaded environment, and it will recover its health.

3. Water reasonably

Overwatering or underwatering can also cause a bromeliad to wither. If the withering is caused by too little water, you need to water it immediately and spray water around the leaves so the leaves can fully absorb moisture as well. If it is caused by too much water, you need to promptly move the plant to a ventilated place to speed up water evaporation, and in severe cases you need to replace the soil with new soil.
