The snake plant is a typical indoor foliage plant. Not only are its leaves broad, thick and beautifully patterned, but its main roots are also very thick and sturdy, giving it extremely high ornamental value when grown as a potted plant. But some friends find that the snake plants they grow at home have relatively slender leaves, making them prone to toppling over.

To grow snake plants well, get them into good shape and prevent them from toppling over, we first need to make them strong so that their stems and leaves have strong supporting ability. As long as we usually spray them with a little of this leaf-strengthening water once every half a month, the plant will grow plump and sturdy and will never topple over again.

This leaf-strengthening water is actually a foliar fertilizer we spray on them. Although snake plants are fairly tolerant of poor soil, they also very much like fertilizer. If you want their leaves to grow broad and thick, you must make sure there are enough nutrients. But since they are grown mainly for their foliage and also mainly for their long leaves, you should supplement them mainly with nitrogen fertilizer.

To apply nitrogen fertilizer to snake plants, you can directly apply a quick-acting fertilizer with a high nitrogen content. But if you spray a foliar fertilizer, you must control the concentration well and make sure the fertilizer solution is sufficiently dilute, otherwise it can easily cause fertilizer burn. Usually, dilute a quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer with water at 800-1000 times, pour it into a spray bottle, shake it well, and then spray the leaves.

When spraying the leaves, be sure to spray every leaf thoroughly and evenly, but absolutely avoid forming large droplets on the leaves or even letting droplets keep dripping down, otherwise it can easily cause excessive fertilizer use and lead to fertilizer burn. When spraying snake plant leaves, the leaf pores open quickly and absorb nitrogen, so the growth-promoting effect on the plant is also very obvious.

Of course, the frequency of spraying foliar fertilizer on snake plants must also be controlled well. Generally, spraying this high-nitrogen quick-acting fertilizer solution once a month is enough. Although foliar fertilizer is an effective supplement to root fertilizer, it has the characteristics of being well absorbed and quick to take effect, so it easily makes snake plant leaves grow broad, thick, upright and strong, and glossy green.
