Reasons Why Jade Plant Leaves Become Soft and How to Fix It
Reasons Why Jade Plant Leaves Become Soft
In fact, soft leaves on a jade plant are a common occurrence during repotting. This is mainly because the roots suffer varying degrees of damage during repotting, and damaged roots weaken the plant's ability to absorb water and nutrients. In severe cases, it may even be unable to absorb them at all, causing the plant to become dehydrated, and without water to sustain them, the leaves gradually become soft.
Solution:
You can prune off all the old leaves, diseased leaves and pest-infested leaves on the lower part of the plant. This reduces water loss and also improves the survival rate. At this point, do not blindly take other measures; simply wait for the roots to recover, and the leaves will gradually become plump and tender again.
Cause Two
After repotting and watering, placing the jade plant in direct sunlight to bake causes dehydration, which not only makes the leaves soft but also severely affects its survival rate after repotting.
Solution:
First, move the plant to a spot with bright indirect light or partial shade and good ventilation, which allows the jade plant to recover. Do not keep the soil constantly moist. When watering, first observe the soil; only water when there are cracks on the soil surface or it looks slightly whitish. If the soil is not dry, watering is strictly forbidden. Water only after the soil has dried out completely; this is very effective for helping it resume normal growth.
All plants develop different problems during repotting, and a jade plant's leaves also gradually become soft after repotting, so it takes several days to recover. There is no need to be too impatient.
