When is the latest blooming time for Luoyang peonies?
1. When do they bloom?
Luoyang peonies are famous far and wide, and they generally bloom around April to May each year. They are divided into three types: early, middle, and late, and different varieties bloom earlier or later. The period from April 10 to April 20 is the full bloom period and also the best time for viewing. The flowers are bright in color and graceful in form, with very high ornamental value, and the Luoyang Peony Festival also happens to open at this time, so you can choose this period to go and admire them. The blooming time is not fixed and will vary according to the climate conditions of that year and the cultivation method. Sometimes when spring temperatures that year are generally high, the blooming time will be earlier. The flowers do not last long in bloom, and after about 10 days they will gradually wither.
2. Peony blooming period management
1. Provide diffused light: During the blooming period, peonies cannot be exposed to strong sunlight, nor can they be kept in a shady place without light. They need diffused light exposure.
2. Thin flowers and buds: If the number of blooms that year is very large and the flowering vigor is good, be sure to do the work of thinning flowers and buds, removing the small buds, which can also allow the remaining flowers to bloom better. After blooming ends, promptly cut off the spent flowers; this can reduce nutrient consumption and make the remaining flowers bloom longer.
3. Avoid splashing water: Before blooming, water thoroughly once to replenish moisture, and when they are about to bloom, control watering. During the blooming period, water must not be sprayed on the leaves and flowers, otherwise it will cause the blooming period to shorten and the flowers to wither easily.
