The Latest Method for Making a Hanging Vase Creative Planter
A highly creative combined planter vase, made by hand-cutting the bottoms off three old wine bottles to turn them into glass vases, and using a stand made from copper tubing to combine the wine bottle vases into a creative hanging vase planter.
Materials:
0.6cm thick copper tubing, old wine bottles, cork, glass cutter, wire cutters, cordless drill, sandpaper (80, 100 or 120 grit), protective goggles and gloves, a homemade simple wooden bottle cutter, a small knife, tea candles, a bucket, a rag, adhesive remover for paper labels, fixing clamps.
Steps:
Step 1: First use a small knife to scrape off most of the label paper on the wine bottle, apply adhesive remover for paper labels to the label area of the old wine bottle, soak for 5 minutes, then use a rag to scrub off the rest of the label.
Step 2: Position the spot to be cut on the homemade wooden bottle cutter, place the wine bottle on the cutter, and while rotating it use the glass cutter to score a line around the surface of the wine bottle; do not grip the bottle and glass cutter too tightly while rotating, so that the cut line stays as consistent as possible.
Step 3: Place the scored part of the wine bottle over a lit tea candle to heat it, rotating it constantly while heating.
Step 4: Make sure to place the heated wine bottle vertically into cold water, so that the cold water cools the score line evenly and in balance.
Step 5: Take out the wine bottle, pour hot water along the score line to heat it, place the bottle in the sink, and be sure to rotate the bottle so that it is heated evenly.
Step 6: Use 80, 100 or 120 grit sandpaper to sand the edge.
Step 7: Use a fixing clamp to hold the cork, and drill a round hole in the center of the cork.
Step 8: Test it: the copper tubing can pass through the cork, and the cork can be inserted into the mouth of the wine bottle.
Step 9: Use the copper tubing to bend a loop at one end.
Step 10: Because the cut glass vase is rather fragile, it is recommended to use a complete, unbroken bottle to bend the copper tubing; starting from the neck of the bottle, spiral-wrap the copper tubing around it as a stand support that can hold the vase up.
Step 11: Insert the cut vase and adjust the placement angle.
Step 12: Insert the cork and the drainage copper tube into the bottom of the vase, and place a glass wine bottle on the ground to collect the water that drips down; this completes the creative wine bottle planter combination.
One special reminder here: because the crafting process for this project is complex, please make ensuring your own safety the first principle during production, and avoid cuts and scratches.
