Common Pests and Diseases of Fuchsia and Their Control Methods
Common Diseases of Fuchsia and Their Control
Gray Mold
Gray mold mainly occurs on stems, leaves and flowers. The edges of leaves infected with gray mold develop brown lesions, and when exposed to water and moisture, the diseased leaves produce gray moldy growth. Stems and flower buds infected with gray mold develop purplish-brown lesions, causing the flowers and stems to rot.
The control methods are: First, strengthen cultivation management, cultivate reasonably, and pay attention to ventilation. Second, when potting, make sure the potting soil is sterile soil or disinfected soil. Third, thoroughly remove infected plants and burn them in a centralized manner. Fourth, treat the soil with a mixture of quintozene wettable powder and zineb wettable powder, or use a specific Bordeaux solution, thiophanate wettable powder, etc. for control.
Physiological Root Rot
This disease occurs easily in summer. The main cause is excessive watering and overly moist soil, resulting in oxygen deficiency, which causes the plant roots to turn black and rot, and in severe cases can lead to the death of the entire plant.
The control methods are: First, loosen the soil in time to keep the soil well ventilated, and water appropriately. Second, in summer, when physiological root rot is likely to occur, move it to a shaded and ventilated environment for care.
Common Pests of Fuchsia and Their Control
Aphids, Red Spider Mites
Aphids and red spider mites suck the sap of fuchsia flowers and leaves, causing the leaves to shrivel and drop, and in severe cases can lead to the death of the entire plant. The control method is to use a specific dimethoate solution, fenpropathrin and deltamethrin solution sprays for control.
Whiteflies
Whiteflies suck the sap from the leaf mesophyll, mainly harming the young leaves of fuchsia, causing the leaves to curl and dry up. When whitefly infestation is found, spray a specific omethoate or fenvalerate solution in time, about once every seven days, spraying about three to four times.
Fuchsia is very susceptible to the invasion of pests and diseases, so flower lovers should take good care of them.
