How to grow lilies in water? A detailed guide to the latest hydroponic method
Precautions for water culture
Changing the water
When growing lilies in water, it is best to change the water frequently.
At temperatures above 20°C, changing the water once every 2-3 days is enough; at temperatures around 15-20°C, change the water once every 3 days or once a week; at lower temperatures, change the water once a week.
Light
Light conditions are also a key factor in whether hydroponic lilies succeed.
An average temperature of around 15-25°C is relatively suitable for lily growth; temperatures that are too low will slow the plant's growth.
Giving lilies 6 hours of appropriate light each day can make the flowering period come earlier; otherwise, the flowering period will be delayed.
Nutrition
Because water is the medium for growing lilies in this method, the nutrient elements in it tend to be relatively lacking, so an appropriate amount of nutrient solution needs to be added to the water to meet the plant's growth needs.
Different plant species require different nutrients for growth, so you should choose an appropriate nutrient solution to add according to how much the plant you are growing likes nutrient elements.
Pruning
Usually, when lilies are used in flower arrangements, they need to be pruned regularly; pruning about once every 2-3 days is enough. Proper pruning not only helps the lilies fully absorb water, but also effectively helps extend the flowering period.
Temperature
Because lilies are grown hydroponically, the water temperature clearly affects the plant's growth.
During high temperatures in summer, the water used for growing must be effectively cooled, and during low temperatures in winter, good insulation work must be done so that all the plant's physiological functions remain in a normal working state.
In fact, the general principles of each care task for hydroponic lilies are basically the same as for soil culture methods; only the growing medium is fundamentally different. I hope all you flower lovers can succeed with either method.
