Everyone knows that if a household potted Clivia has only been grown for 1-2 years, it is usually impossible for it to bloom. But if it has been grown for more than 3-4 years and still shows no sign of blooming, then there must be a reason. Below, the editor will tell everyone the reasons why Clivia does not bloom.

1. Sufficient nutrients

If a potted Clivia is not repotted for a long time, the originally limited nutrients in the potting soil will gradually be used up, and some nutrients will also be carried away through the drainage hole at the bottom of the pot when the plant is frequently watered thoroughly. As a result, the Clivia may fail to bloom because it cannot absorb enough nutrients.

Therefore, it is generally recommended to repot and change the soil every six months or one year. At the same time, when changing the soil, enough base fertilizer needs to be buried in the soil. An appropriate amount of bone meal, fish scales, etc. can be added, so as to ensure that after repotting, the potting soil has enough nutrients to promote blooming.

2. Scientific watering

Usually, when we water Clivia, we must do so in an appropriate amount, especially in a potted environment. In spring, you can keep watering thoroughly once a day; in summer, there is no need to water on cloudy and rainy days, and on sunny days you can keep watering thoroughly once a day; in autumn, you can water thoroughly once every other day; and in winter, you can keep watering thoroughly once a week. In this way, Clivia will not fail to bloom due to lack of water.

3. Moderate light

For many flowering plants, the more sufficient the light, the more brilliantly they bloom. As for Clivia, do not assume that the more light there is, the better it is for the plant's growth. Clivia is a medium-daylength flowering plant, and can also be considered a greenhouse flowering plant, so if the light is too strong, the plant will produce only stems, leaves and branches without blooming. Therefore, it is recommended to move the pot to a shady place for care every midday.

4. Suitable temperature

The most suitable growing temperature for Clivia is generally between 15°c-25°c, but during its flowering period the temperature should be controlled between 15°c-20°c. When the ambient temperature is below 10°c or above 30°c, Clivia will enter a state of stagnant growth. In other words, if the room temperature is too high or too low, it may cause Clivia to fail to bloom.

Therefore, when the temperature rises in summer, cooling measures should be taken for it, and in winter, warming measures should be taken to keep it warm and protect it from the cold, so as to avoid frost damage. It can be seen that improper temperature is also an important factor restricting or affecting whether a potted Clivia fails to bloom. So we need to take timely measures to regulate the temperature for it.
