Pothos is an evergreen plant with a well-developed root system and lush stems and leaves. It can be grown both in soil and hydroponically, has very high ornamental value, and at the same time can also effectively purify the air. However, hydroponic growth is often slower than soil cultivation, so how do we grow hydroponic pothos well?

To grow hydroponic pothos well, in addition to mastering certain cultivation techniques, there are also some precautions that need to be taken seriously enough. To grow hydroponic pothos well, we mainly need to do a good job in the following aspects of management:

1. Change the water frequently

The key to hydroponic plants lies in changing the water, and the same is true for pothos. Be sure to change the water frequently, especially when the water quality has been compromised, change it promptly. Generally, in the early stage of hydroponics, change the water once every 2-3 days, and in the middle and later stages, change it once a week.

2. Good water quality

Pothos also has certain requirements for water quality. If the water source is well chosen, it will provide a good guarantee for the normal growth of the plant; if the water quality is too poor, or if the water is not changed in time and the water quality is compromised, the plant is not only prone to infection, but also grows relatively slowly. It is usually recommended to use purified water or mineral water for hydroponic pothos.

3. Sufficient nutrition

Pothos has lush stems and leaves and vigorous growth, and needs to consume a lot of nutrients, so after hydroponic pothos has developed roots, add a few drops of pothos-specific nutrient solution when changing the water to supplement the nutrients in the water, thereby better promoting the plant's sprouting and growth. At the same time, it can also make the pothos leaves glossy and the leaf color more emerald green, so the ornamental value is naturally higher.

4. Clean the root system

After the pothos root system has grown larger and longer, we need to regularly prune the roots. Because of metabolism and the care process, over time the pothos root system will produce a lot of attached matter, thereby inhibiting the normal respiration of the root system and affecting its normal growth. So we should regularly clean the root system, and do so together with root pruning. Generally, do this when changing the water, and at the same time also clean away pollutants or impurities on the inner wall of the container.

5. Spray water to maintain humidity

Pothos is a green plant that likes a moist growing environment and has relatively high humidity requirements. If the air is too dry, this is unfavorable for the plant's growth. So we can increase the air humidity in the environment by frequently spraying water or misting. In addition to frequently spraying water on the leaf surface, we can also spray water into the surrounding environment of the plant, including the ground, to create a suitable humidity environment for the plant's growth.

6. Scientific placement

Hydroponic pothos also has relatively high environmental requirements. It needs to be able to receive scattered light, while also avoiding direct strong light, and the environment also needs ventilation and relatively high humidity. So if we keep it as an indoor potted plant, it is recommended to place it in a sunny spot near a windowsill or balcony. In this way, the plant's leaves can not only spread out freely, but also grow emerald green and glossy.
