Lilies have a fairly long blooming period, usually flowering from April to July, and how long the blooming period lasts also depends on the variety chosen and the planting time. From planting to blooming, it usually takes 3-4 months. A lily in bloom is incomparably lovely and dazzlingly beautiful, so many pot growers hope it will bloom on schedule again next year and that they will have the chance to admire its beauty once more. That being so, we must do a good job of caring for and managing it after it blooms.

Since the lily is a bulbous plant, it needs good care and management before it blooms. Before it blooms, the pot must not be moved, and the plant must not be touched, especially the flower buds, mainly to avoid buds forming too early and dropping too early. Of course, watering must also be controlled; do not water heavily or flood it. Generally, you should wait until the potting soil is completely dry before replenishing water by spraying. This ensures it blooms normally on schedule without any abnormalities.

And during the blooming period, its care and management also need attention. To extend the blooming period, we can go to a florist supply shop and buy some cut-flower preservative solution to use. Of course, you do not have to buy it; using rice-rinsing water from home is also workable, because the nutrients in rice-rinsing water are relatively rich, and applying it is very beneficial to the plant's growth.

The main event is still after flowering, because whether the management after the lily fades is scientific and thorough will directly affect the next year's growth state and blooming effect. First, to avoid excessive consumption of nutrients, we should promptly remove the spent flowers and do appropriate pruning, keeping a height of 20-30 cm. At this time, avoid overwatering, otherwise the leaves on the lower part of the plant are likely to drop.

If you accidentally overwater, on the one hand drain promptly, and on the other hand prune a little less severely than under normal conditions, that is, keep the retained height appropriately longer than before, along with a small number of leaves, avoiding keeping only the stem portion. So in this step, watering must be well controlled, especially do not water too much; if it causes waterlogging, it can also easily lead to root rot.

In addition, after flowering we should also apply appropriate additional fertilizer: once a week with Huaduoduo, once a month with a compound fertilizer, both preferably applied as a dilute, low-concentration liquid feed, because applying concentrated fertilizer easily causes fertilizer burn and scorches the plant. Just follow the fertilizer instructions when applying.

After winter arrives, the lily plant will gradually turn withered and yellow. At this time, avoid sun and rain; it is recommended to move it to a balcony where it can both avoid rain and avoid direct sunlight, and at the same time stop water and fertilizer supply. If the potting soil is too dry, you can add a small amount of water. This process can continue until the beginning of the following spring.
