How long can a snake plant survive after leaving the soil?
A snake plant can survive for more than a week after leaving the soil. This plant is very drought-tolerant, and a short time out of the soil will not cause it to die quickly. A snake plant kept in a cool, shady place can even last about 15 days. As long as the environment is kept relatively dry and cool, a snake plant can stay alive for a long time out of the soil.
How long can a snake plant survive out of the soil
1. More than a week
A snake plant can still survive for more than a week after leaving the soil, and with proper care it can even live for more than 15 days. After a snake plant leaves the soil, the nutrients and water stored inside it are enough to support its survival for a long period, until we plant it back into the soil and resume caring for it.
2. Storage environment
When storing a bare-root snake plant, we must be careful not to let it come into contact with water or be placed in an overly humid place. A snake plant can be stored for a long time in a relatively dry, cool place, but if there is water or the environment is too humid, the snake plant will quickly rot and die, so the environment must be kept dry.
3. Transplanting steps
After preparing the soil and flower pot, the snake plant should still be planted into normal soil as soon as possible. Take out the snake plant that has been stored for a period of time, cut off the dried, withered root tendrils or leaf tips, then plant the plant into the soil and water it lightly, just enough to make the soil slightly moist.
4. Care work
During the first 2-3 days after the snake plant is newly planted in the pot, we should not water it too much; just keep the soil slightly moist. Watering too much can easily cause the plant to wither and die from being unable to tolerate it. When watering a snake plant, proceed step by step and gradually increase the amount of water so the plant can adapt to the process. After 15 days, it can be watered normally.
