Is Kalanchoe suitable for growing indoors?
1. Oxygen
According to relevant research, it has been found that not all plants compete with people for scarce oxygen at night - at least our Kalanchoe does not. It has a special metabolic pathway that allows it to release oxygen beneficial to us at night, so it can actually be grown indoors. Cacti and some plants in the same family as Kalanchoe have this same effect.
2. Light
In fact, growing it indoors is not only good for us, but also good for the plant itself. In summer, it cannot tolerate very strong light, so keeping it indoors spares it that trouble. Of course, aside from summer, we still need to give it a certain amount of light, so that the edges of its leaves keep their color.
3. Temperature
Although Kalanchoe is not demanding about temperature, whether in the south or the north, there may be sub-zero weather at the end of the year, and this plant itself cannot withstand such cold. So growing it indoors is also a good way to help it survive the winter safely. In addition, summer temperatures are unbearable, and plants also cannot stand them. At this time we also need to keep it indoors to cool down, which can also reduce the harm caused by overly strong light.
4. Water
Because summers in the south have a long rainy season, keeping it indoors is also a very correct choice. This is because although it needs the soil to stay moist, water must not be allowed to accumulate and stagnate, as this will cause problems with its leaves and, in severe cases, even lead to its death. Of course, when there is no water, we also need to water it, so that it can live safely indoors.
