Celery is a fairly common vegetable in the vegetable market. Eating celery daily has many benefits, such as detoxifying and nourishing the blood, and the market sales situation is also good, so many people grow it. When growing celery, some diseases are relatively common. Today, Qinnong Web will tell everyone about some of the more common diseases of celery.

1. Soft rot

Although this is said to be caused by pathogens, the environment is actually also a major factor. The reason is that pathogens originally contained in the soil enter the celery through some wounds, and then the relatively moist base of the celery induces the pathogens. The symptoms are blackened and smelly roots, and rotting can be felt by touching them with your hand. First remove the necrotic plants, then it is recommended to use 72% agricultural streptomycin sulfate soluble powder for spraying control.

2. Petiole cracking

The appearance of this disease indicates that the celery needs a certain amount of boron added, and it also indicates that the soil moisture is excessive or too dry, so attention should be paid to drainage and watering. The usual symptoms are cracking of the celery stalks. If the crack is caused by drought, it will show yellowing and wilting; if there is too much water, the color will not change significantly. For drought-induced cases, spray a 0.1%-0.3% borax aqueous solution together with water; for wet cases, apply a certain amount of borax.

3. Septoria leaf spot

This disease generally poses a relatively large threat to the leaves. The reason is that incomplete control allows the mycelium to stubbornly cling to the celery, and then the rainy season induces the disease. It manifests as leaves turning yellow in batches, perforating, and finally withering and falling off. This disease is quite harmful. After it occurs, fungicides should be sprayed on all surrounding plants. 75% chlorothalonil wettable powder at 600 times dilution has a good effect on this disease.

4. Viral disease

This type of disease is mostly induced by external pests, especially aphids and the like. In the early stage of the disease, the leaves are uneven, dull in color, and there are also some insects on the leaves. In the later severe stage, it causes celery to stop developing and slowly become necrotic. The control of this disease must be divided into two aspects: first, pest prevention, and second, treatment of the pathogen. Spraying 15% Bingdubike wettable powder at 700-1000 times dilution is a relatively commonly used treatment, with an interval of one week, lasting about one month.

The above are some common disease situations of celery. When growing it daily, everyone must carry out pest and disease prevention thoroughly to avoid economic losses later. Moreover, the residues of diseased plants must be taken away afterward and not left in the soil, so as to avoid secondary infection.
