We have all eaten celery, but few people have ever seen its seeds. Its seed coat is thick and hard, and the outer layer also has oil glands, making it impermeable to water. After sowing, it germinates extremely slowly, especially at high summer temperatures, so it needs to be germinated before planting. So do you know how to germinate celery? Let's learn about it together with Qinnong.com.

1. Germination preparation

Before sowing, first place the seeds in the sun and expose them for one day, then soak them in clean water for one day, changing the water two or three times in between, then remove the seeds, rub them continuously with your hands to clean off the material on the surface, and then rinse them several times with clean water until the impurities are completely removed.

2. Clean water germination method

Clean water germination is a common germination method. After soaking the treated seeds for 24 hours, remove them and place them in a cool place to dry, so that the surface moisture evaporates. Then prepare a basin-shaped container, put the seeds into it, cover with a layer of wet cloth, and then place it in a cool and ventilated area to begin germination, keeping the temperature between 15-20 degrees. During germination, turn the seeds once a day to keep the temperature and humidity even, so that the seeds sprout uniformly. Rinse the seeds once every two days to maintain moisture and prevent mold. After rinsing, let them air briefly. In this way, after one week, when most of the seeds show white, they can be sown.

3. Min water seed soaking germination

Put the treated and prepared seeds into a cloth bag, soak them thoroughly with Min water, and then lower them into a water well, but do not soak them in the water; keep a distance of 30-50cm from the water surface. The inside of a water well is already a low-temperature and humid environment, which is just suitable for seed germination. After one day, take them out and place them in a 15-20 degree environment, wash them with clean water two or three times a day, and after two or three days they can be sown.

4. Low-temperature germination

Place the treated seeds in a 0-1 degree environment for three days; a refrigerator can fully do this. Then place them in a 15-20 degree environment for germination. The purpose of doing this is to shorten the germination time and make the seeds sprout uniformly.

5. Variable-temperature germination

Place the soaked seeds in a 15-18 degree incubator. After 12 hours, raise the temperature by 7-8 degrees, but note that it should not exceed 25 degrees. After another 12 hours, adjust the temperature back to the starting temperature. Alternate in this way every twelve hours, and after about three days they will germinate and can be sown.
