We should all be very familiar with pak choi; it can be seen on our everyday dining tables. Everyone knows that eating more green vegetables is good for the body, especially those who often eat meat should occasionally eat some vegetables too, so as to maintain nutritional balance. Moreover, pak choi is very simple to grow, so today let's learn the planting methods for pak choi together with the editor.

1. Land preparation and fertilisation

Pak choi has no special requirements for growing conditions. As long as there is reasonable sunlight and the soil contains a certain amount of nutrients, drains well, retains water well and has good permeability, the land can be used for planting. As for the planting temperature and some other points, we can regulate and manage them according to the specific situation. The soil of the pak choi planting site should be worked relatively fine, and there should be no standing water. When preparing the land, some plant ash or a sufficient amount of farmyard manure should be spread and deep-ploughed in, so that nutrients are not easily lost. At the same time, drainage ditches should be made to facilitate later irrigation and drainage.

2. Scientific sowing

Pak choi nowadays can basically be planted all year round. As long as you manage it well, it will still grow very well. Before sowing, if you use seeds you saved yourself, you need to screen out impurities as well as empty and bad seeds, and keep plump seeds free of pests and diseases for planting. Next is sunning the seeds, and then you can sow. If the seeds were purchased, they can be sown directly. There are two main sowing methods for pak choi, namely broadcast sowing and drilling. Broadcast sowing is suitable for lazy sowers because it is quicker, while using drilling makes later field operations a bit more convenient.

3. Watering management

Before sowing, the soil needs to be watered wet first, and then sowing can be done. Generally, seedlings will emerge in about three to four days. During this period, if the temperature is relatively high, then watering needs to be done in time to maintain soil moisture. After the seedlings emerge, one watering is needed; this watering can promote the growth of pak choi seedlings. Finally, if there is too much water in the field, it should also be drained away in time.

4. Fertilisation management

When watering for the first time after the pak choi seedlings emerge, we can use diluted manure and urine water for irrigation. If there is none, then an appropriate amount of urea mixed with water can be used instead. Finally, fertilise reasonably according to the growth condition of the pak choi. It is best to use organic fertiliser for spraying, as this will not affect the quality of the pak choi.

5. Timely harvesting

We can harvest pak choi in batches. Although the sowing time is the same, there will be certain differences in the emergence and growth speed of pak choi, so we can harvest the first batch when the pak choi has grown about ten leaves and is roughly 15 to 20 cm tall. After that, each harvest can follow the principle of harvesting the large and preserving the small, so that harvesting can continue several times. At the same time, during the harvesting process we can add an appropriate amount of pak choi seeds, so that there will be a continuous supply, but be careful about pest control.
