Cabbage is one of the important vegetables in our country, cultivated in all parts of the country. It can be used as a vegetable and as feed, and it also has excellent medicinal value. In cabbage production, its seedling raising technique is crucial, as it affects the later yield and quality. Follow along with the editor below to see the detailed content of cabbage seedling raising techniques.

1. Select good seeds

Select good seeds according to the local planting environment and planting time. For example, for open-field cultivation in spring, varieties with early maturity, high yield and strong disease resistance can be selected, while if grown in early spring in a greenhouse, varieties with strong cold resistance and strong disease resistance should be selected.

2. Seedbed preparation

The seedbed should be a plot with loose and fertile soil, rich in organic matter and well drained, and the previous crop should not have been a cruciferous vegetable. The size of the seedbed depends on the planting scale. Rake the seedbed soil fine and level it, apply 5000 kg of fully decomposed organic fertilizer per mu and 50 kg of high-concentration three-element compound fertilizer, spread them evenly on the ground, and mix them evenly with the soil. In this way, the seedbed is ready.

3. Sow at the right time

The spring sowing time for cabbage is generally from December to January. Before sowing, treat the seeds with warm water or chemical disinfection. For warm water seed soaking, soak the seeds in warm water at 50-60 degrees, stir and soak for more than ten minutes, then remove and soak in clean water for 12 hours; for chemical seed soaking, choose 75% Baijun 800 times liquid and soak the seeds in it for 12 hours. This can eliminate the germs and insect eggs carried by the seeds and reduce the probability of pests and diseases. After soaking, greenhouse germination can also be carried out, but coated seeds do not need this. When sowing, the soil should have a certain humidity. If it is too dry, water it thoroughly once before sowing; if the humidity is just right, water after sowing. Sowing can be done by drilling or dibbling, with a plant and row spacing of 4×4cm, and 2-2.5 kg of seed per mu. After sowing, cover with a 1cm thick layer of fine soil, then cover it with straw or plastic film to keep the soil moist and speed up emergence.

4. Seedling stage management

After sowing, do a good job of temperature, light, water and fertilizer management. Cabbage likes a mild climate and can also tolerate high and low temperatures. It can germinate slowly at 2-3 degrees. After sowing, keep the temperature at 15-25 degrees, and full emergence can be achieved in about one week. After full emergence, control the temperature at 10-20 degrees to prevent the seedlings from growing too fast. If the planting density is relatively high, thin the seedlings in time. When the seedlings grow 2-3 true leaves, divide the seedlings. At this stage, provide sufficient light and take good disease prevention and control measures. But when the seedlings grow to 5-6 true leaves, they can be transplanted.
