Shaggy mane mushroom, also known as shaggy ink cap, spiny-haired mushroom, etc. The flesh of the shaggy mane mushroom is similar to chicken, but it does not taste like chicken. Because its shape closely resembles a chicken leg, it is called shaggy mane mushroom. The shaggy mane mushroom has very high development value and is a new type of mushroom. Relying on its rich nutritional value and taste, the shaggy mane mushroom is welcomed by many people. At present, China also has a relatively wide cultivation area, so what precautions should be taken when cultivating shaggy mane mushroom? Now let's take a look together with the editor!

1. Temperature control

Shaggy mane mushroom has certain temperature requirements. Its spores need a germination temperature of around 24°C. After the spores germinate, the temperature should be controlled at around 25-27°C to promote the growth of mycelium. Shaggy mane mushroom mycelium has strong cold resistance and can grow at a temperature of around minus 10°C. However, the growth rate is relatively slow. During mycelium growth, the temperature must not exceed 35°C. If it exceeds this, the shaggy mane mushroom will gradually melt and turn black, and the mycelium will gradually die. Therefore, during the fruiting period, the temperature should be controlled at around 12-25°C. When the temperature changes greatly, the temperature should be adjusted in time.

2. Water management

After casing soil is applied to the bed surface, the soil should be gradually moistened within 3 days to ensure that the soil moisture content is around 20%. It is sufficient if the soil can be pinched into a ball by hand without sticking to the hand. In this way, the mycelium can be promoted to extend into the soil layer and enhance its growth ability. Then after about half a month, as the primordia of the fruiting bodies form, the amount of watering should be increased to ensure sufficient moisture to promote the growth of the fruiting bodies. Also, after the fruiting bodies enter the expansion period, they need to be watered once a day. After the flush of mushrooms ends, watering should be stopped to restore mycelium growth. Then, after the next batch grows out, water again, and repeat this cycle.

3. Ventilation and air permeability

The respiratory capacity of shaggy mane mushroom is relatively strong. Like humans, it absorbs oxygen and exhales carbon dioxide. However, when ventilating shaggy mane mushroom, ventilation must not be too strong, because if the ventilation volume is too large, it will increase the scales on the surface of the shaggy mane mushroom and reduce its commercial value. However, when watering, ventilate appropriately, and after finishing, wait about 60 minutes before closing the vents. When the temperature is relatively high, hang soaked straw curtains over the vents before ventilating to prevent hot wind from reducing the humidity of the mushroom house. On cloudy and rainy days, the ventilation time can be appropriately extended to ensure sufficient oxygen supply for the growth of shaggy mane mushroom.

4. Pay attention to shading

Too strong light will inhibit the growth of shaggy mane mushroom and will also accelerate the aging rate of the mycelium. Therefore, in summer, in order to prevent direct sunlight from hitting the shaggy mane mushroom, a shade shed should be built over the mushroom house, and the shade shed must ensure no light transmission. A layer of plastic film also needs to be covered over the shade shed to prevent water leakage when it rains. After building it, pay attention to the humidity inside the shade shed. Keeping the humidity at around 75% is sufficient.

The above is a brief introduction to the precautions for cultivating shaggy mane mushroom. The cultivation of shaggy mane mushroom is relatively simple. However, the above aspects are not only our precautions, but also our most basic daily management work. Only by doing these tasks well can we ensure the normal growth of shaggy mane mushroom.
