Blood-enriching greens are also called Guanyin greens or blood fern greens. Their main benefit is enriching the blood, making them an excellent health vegetable for blood enrichment. At present, blood-enriching greens are very popular on the market, but their output has not increased noticeably. In China, blood-enriching greens are mainly grown in Fujian, Sichuan, Guangxi, Hunan and other places, and the planting scale is not very large. So today let us learn about the planting methods for blood-enriching greens.

1. Planting Environment

Blood-enriching greens have strong resistance and are characterized by being easy to keep alive, easy to manage, tolerant of poor soil and highly disease-resistant. They are a vegetable that can be planted in all four seasons. However, to ensure the quality of blood-enriching greens, the soil used for planting must be free of pollution, the water quality must be pure, and the natural ecological environment should be good. To increase the yield of blood-enriching greens, the planting site should be rich in organic matter, and the soil should have strong fertilizer-retention and water-retention capacity. Finally, prepare the land and apply enough base fertilizer. The base fertilizer is mainly organic fertilizer, combined with compound fertilizer, urea and phosphate fertilizer, and applied during deep plowing. Once the beds are prepared, planting can begin.

2. Planting Methods

There are two cultivation methods for blood-enriching greens, but the one most commonly used at present is propagation by cuttings. Blood-enriching greens grown this way have a shorter growth cycle, and their quality is guaranteed, with a very high survival rate. The other method is seed propagation, which is the most traditional planting method but also a very practical one. The best time for planting cuttings is spring and autumn each year, and new roots can grow about a week after cuttings are taken.

3. Reasonable Close Planting

After blood-enriching greens survive, we need to thin the seedlings, even out the seedlings and fill in gaps, so as to ensure a full stand of seedlings in the field. Generally, about twenty days after planting blood-enriching greens, they can be transplanted and set out. At this time, the distance between each plant in the field should be kept at 35 cm, and the distance between rows should be kept at about 40 cm. Generally, about 3,000 plants can be planted per mu. After setting out, we should reasonably spray carbendazim solution, which helps blood-enriching greens take root and become established.

4. Field Management

After blood-enriching greens are set out, we should water them once, which can promote the growth of new roots and help them enter the seedling recovery stage as quickly as possible. During the growth of blood-enriching greens, we should water frequently to keep the soil moist. About half a month after setting out blood-enriching greens, we need to carry out the first topdressing, mainly with compound fertilizer applied in holes, combined with cultivating, and promptly clear the weeds from the field. In the later growth of blood-enriching greens, we need to spray foliar fertilizer once about every ten days to ensure their quality. Finally, pay attention to the harm caused by aphids to blood-enriching greens. Generally, dimethoate emulsifiable concentrate can be used for control, but it is best not to spray pesticide within half a month before harvest, otherwise it will affect the quality of blood-enriching greens.

The growth cycle of blood-enriching greens is very short. Generally, they can be harvested in about fifty days, so we should pay attention to the harvest time to avoid harvesting blood-enriching greens too late and affecting their quality. After harvest, topdressing can be carried out to promote the growth of the next crop of blood-enriching greens and increase their yield.
