Greenhouse eggplant cultivation is a very common practice, so do you know how its management methods differ from open-field cultivation management? How is management work carried out for greenhouse eggplant cultivation? How much do you know about greenhouse eggplant cultivation? Today let us take a look at the greenhouse eggplant cultivation and management techniques we have compiled for you.

1. Land preparation

When using greenhouses to grow eggplants, the first thing we need to do is choose a suitable planting site. Greenhouse planting sites generally need to be relatively flat, which makes greenhouse construction and later cultivation management convenient. After choosing the planting site, we should improve and prepare the land based on the terrain of the planting site and the growth habits of eggplants, level the planting site, break up the soil clods finely, then apply sufficient fertilizer, open drainage ditches, and make flat beds about two meters wide.

2. Greenhouse construction

After preparing the land, we need to build the greenhouse. Generally, one greenhouse is built over two flat beds, which is about four meters. Next, the height of the greenhouse should be at least about two meters, which makes field management convenient. If the greenhouse is too short, then later field operations will be very laborious, but if it is too tall, it is also easily affected by external conditions, while also increasing the cost input for greenhouse construction.

3. Pruning branches and removing leaves

After planting eggplants, in order to promote eggplant growth and encourage eggplants to enter the flowering and fruiting stages as early as possible, we can appropriately trim branches and leaves. Generally, when eggplants have grown to about thirty centimeters, the terminal buds of the eggplant seedlings are removed to promote the growth of side branches. When the eggplant plants have taken shape, we need to inhibit plant growth and promote flowering, so the terminal buds of the side branches should be removed. To maintain plant permeability, branches and leaves that are too densely grown need to be removed, avoiding poor light and ventilation.

4. Reasonable temperature control

In greenhouse eggplant cultivation, one of the most important points is temperature management, because temperature has a very large impact on eggplant pollination. In order to increase the success rate of eggplant pollination, temperature management needs to be carried out reasonably. During greenhouse cultivation, temperatures that are too low or too high will both affect eggplant pollination, making flower drop, fruit drop, and deformed fruit more likely. So we can appropriately spray some hormones to prevent flower and fruit drop, such as 2,4-D and fruit-setting hormone.
