What are the latest precautions for planting sweet wormwood?
Sweet wormwood (Artemisia annua) is a very popular wild vegetable at present, and its edible value and medicinal value are both relatively high. Large-scale sweet wormwood cultivation has now appeared on the market, so what should be noted when planting sweet wormwood? What precautions are there? Below, let's read the following content together with the editor.
1. Soil
Although sweet wormwood is a wild vegetable, it still has certain requirements for the growing environment, which is to say that not all planting sites are suitable for growing sweet wormwood. So when choosing a planting site for sweet wormwood, it is best to choose a plot with abundant water resources, convenient irrigation, sufficient fertilizer, relatively high terrain, flat ground, and good drainage. Terrain such as low-lying land and valleys is not suitable for growing sweet wormwood.
2. Density
The planting density of sweet wormwood is also something we need to pay attention to when planting. Generally, one mu of land can grow 1,000 to 1,200 sweet wormwood plants, which is to say that one mu of land should not exceed 1,200 plants at most; otherwise, the air permeability in the field will become poor and affect the normal growth of sweet wormwood. When the soil and fertilizer are relatively good, we plant with a row spacing of about 80 cm and a plant spacing of about 70 cm.
3. Moisture
After sweet wormwood is planted, we should pay attention to water management in the field, avoiding water accumulation in the field, excessive water, or soil drought. In order to promote the growth of sweet wormwood, the soil humidity in the field is generally kept at about 50 percent, which is to say that when the ground is touched by hand, it feels slightly moist. When the moisture in the field is too high, drainage should be carried out in time to avoid water damage and affect the quality of sweet wormwood.
4. Fertilization
Fertilizing sweet wormwood is very particular, and we usually carry it out in three stages. The first stage is generally about five to seven days after sweet wormwood is planted; we mainly apply compound fertilizer and farmyard manure as a top dressing, with an amount of about 15 jin per mu, which can be applied in furrows or as a liquid drench. The second stage is about half a month after planting; the fertilizer is the same as in the first stage, but the amount is increased to about 35 jin, applied in furrows. The third stage is about one month after planting; the fertilizer types are the same as in the first and second stages, but the amount is increased to 50 jin, applied in furrows. After fertilizing, if we are worried about fertilizer damage, we can water, which can dilute the fertilizer concentration and promote nutrient absorption.
