Broccoli is a type of cauliflower, also called green cauliflower. Because broccoli is richer in nutritional value than ordinary cauliflower and tastes much better as well, broccoli commands a higher price and sales volume on the market than ordinary cauliflower. In order to increase broccoli yields, scientific fertilization during the broccoli growing process is very important. So today let us learn about broccoli fertilization techniques together.

1. Base fertilizer

Before broccoli is transplanted, a sufficient base fertilizer needs to be applied first, and the most commonly used base fertilizers are farmyard manure and organic fertilizer. When applying the base fertilizer, one principle we must note is to apply it heavily and make sure it is sufficient, with the amount per mu generally controlled at around two thousand to two thousand five hundred kilograms. In addition to farmyard manure, compound fertilizer, urea and phosphorus-potassium fertilizer also need to be used appropriately. Farmyard manure can be used together with New High Lipid Film, which can improve fertilizer efficiency. Finally, the base fertilizer must be mixed evenly with the soil, so as to prevent the fertilizer from dispersing and being lost.

2. Seedling fertilizer

About one week after broccoli is transplanted, the seedlings will basically grow new roots and new leaves. At this time, a seedling fertilizer needs to be applied as a top dressing to restore the seedlings' growth vigor. The seedling fertilizer is generally based on urea, used together with a small amount of potassium fertilizer. For each mu, generally prepare about six jin of urea and five jin of potassium fertilizer, mix with water in a certain ratio and then irrigate, which can dilute the fertilizer concentration and at the same time help the nutrients be absorbed and used by the broccoli seedlings.

3. Growth fertilizer

About twenty days after the broccoli seedlings are transplanted, another top dressing is needed to promote broccoli growth, bring it into the budding stage as early as possible, and improve the growth vigor of the broccoli plants, so it is called growth fertilizer. The growth fertilizer is generally applied as a top dressing by opening furrows and burying it shallowly, mainly using a three-element compound fertilizer, with the amount per mu controlled at around forty jin. Of course, we can also use the hole application method, but for hole application the main choice is water-soluble fertilizer, with the amount controlled at around ten to twenty jin.

4. Budding fertilizer

When broccoli begins to bud, the budding fertilizer needs to be applied as a top dressing in time. During this period the main fertilizer type is still the nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium three-element compound fertilizer, but the amount of potassium fertilizer used needs to be appropriately increased, and foliar feeding also needs to be used together with it. The amount of three-element compound fertilizer used per mu is generally around forty jin, and the amount of potassium fertilizer is about ten jin. Foliar feeding mainly applies trace element fertilizer; according to the specific situation, supplementing trace element fertilizer can effectively improve the yield and quality of broccoli.

5. Later top dressing

Later top dressing is mainly to promote the enlargement of broccoli flower buds, and also to be applied after each harvest of broccoli, which can promote the growth of new flower buds and is very effective in raising the yield and quality of broccoli. The method, amount and type of later top dressing are basically the same as those of the budding fertilizer; the only thing to note is that foliar fertilizer needs to be sprayed appropriately to prevent the plants from aging and causing a reduction in yield.

In the process of growing broccoli, top dressing is generally carried out according to these few steps, and its fertilization method is mainly related to its growth characteristics, fertilizer requirements and soil fertility. The introduction of fertilization techniques above is relatively simple, but also easy to understand, and we hope your later growing will go more smoothly.
