Cherry radish is a type of four-season radish in our country. It gets its name because its small, delicate shape resembles a cherry. It has bright color and high medicinal and nutritional value, and is deeply loved by many people. So how should cherry radish be planted? And when is the planting time? Let us learn about it together.

1. Planting Time

Cherry radish can be planted all year round, but when planted in summer, it occasionally shows excessive leaves and incomplete root development, so the best sowing time is generally March to May or September to October. The suitable temperature for its seed germination is 15-30 degrees. After germination, it should be moved promptly to a place with sufficient light. If cultivated in open fields, you can choose to sow and raise seedlings, then transplant after emergence.

2. Sowing

Cherry radish likes to grow in fertile, loose sandy loam with good water retention and good drainage. It likes potassium fertilizer, so when planting, sufficient fertilizer should be applied to the soil to supply what it needs for growth. Before sowing, water the soil thoroughly once, then evenly scatter the seeds on the ground surface and cover with about 1 cm of soil. After sowing, keep the soil moist. Under an average daily temperature of 20-25 degrees, germination takes about 3-4 days. Spot sowing can also be used, generally sowing 2-3 seeds per hole, with about 5 cm between holes.

3. Seedling Stage Management

Within one week of germination, true leaves will grow, and the branches and buds will gradually become denser. At this time, thinning should be done well, especially for the broadcast sowing method. As the seedlings continue to grow, thin once more when they grow 4-5 leaves. At this time, the plants should be spaced more than 5 cm apart. After thinning, cultivate soil around the roots to prevent the seedlings from lodging. Seedlings have relatively strict light requirements. Insufficient light will affect the synthesis and accumulation of photosynthetic products, and the expansion of its roots will be blocked and slow, with poor quality. More than 12 hours of light per day is needed for normal flowering.

4. Fertilizer and Water Management

As cherry radish grows leaves, its stems will also gradually thicken. If the soil is dry, remember to water to replenish moisture. Once water is insufficient, its stems will become hard and bent. After true leaves grow, fertilizer should generally be applied once every 10 days, preferably liquid fertilizer. Generally, after one month of growth, its roots will gradually expand outward, and then it can be harvested. Before harvest, watering should be appropriately reduced. At harvest, water thoroughly, then pull out the whole plant.
