Fennel, also known as small fennel, is one of the most commonly used seasoning vegetables in our daily lives, and the part mainly used for seasoning is the fruit of fennel. Fennel has high nutritional value and is rich in vitamins, cellulose and other nutrients. Therefore, the planting area of fennel in our country is still relatively large now. So how should fennel be planted? Today the editor brings you the planting methods for fennel. Let's take a look!

1. Sowing time

Fennel sowing methods are divided into two types: winter sowing and spring sowing. If sowing in winter, then before the previous year's winter begins we should sow the seeds into frozen farmland, and under normal management, they can be harvested the next year. If sowing in spring, then sowing, planting and harvesting are carried out in that spring. The growth cycle of fennel is relatively short, so we can also appropriately carry out interplanting. The main interplanting targets are wide-and-narrow-row crops, and generally after they are sown, the fennel interplanting work is carried out. During interplanting, the soil temperature must not exceed 15°C.

2. Sowing method

⟦NL>Before sowing, we must first select good varieties, preferably varieties with strong branching, high yield, lodging resistance and plump seeds. The sowing methods for fennel are mainly hole sowing and drill sowing. Choose the sowing method reasonably according to the sowing season. If sowing in winter, hole sowing is mainly used, with good control of sowing spacing, keeping the hole spacing at about 10cm. If sowing in spring, drill sowing is mainly used, and the plant and row spacing should also be well controlled. When sowing, we must also control the sowing rate well.

3. Field management

In early spring, our management work should focus on heat preservation and moisture conservation, and before emergence the soil should be appropriately compacted. If the rainy season occurs, then drainage should be carried out in time, and cultivation should be done well to avoid soil hardening, improve the soil's moisture conservation capacity, and promote emergence. During the seedling stage, thinning, final singling and weeding should be done well. When fennel seedlings grow to 3 leaves, appropriately spray foliar fertilizer. When they grow to 6-7 leaves, for some seedlings with vigorous growth, appropriately spray mepiquat chloride to avoid excessive vegetative growth and reduce fennel's lodging resistance.

4. Management during the flowering and fruiting stage

During the flowering and fruiting stage, our management focus should be on nourishing roots and protecting leaves and improving fruit quality. Fennel has relatively strong drought tolerance. However, its waterlogging tolerance is relatively poor. Therefore, if water accumulates during the rainy season, drainage work should be done in time. During the flowering and fruiting stage, we should water and fertilize appropriately, especially foliar fertilizer. Appropriately spraying foliar fertilizers such as boron and zinc can effectively improve the seed-setting rate of fennel. Then do a good job in pest and disease prevention and control to ensure normal growth of fennel.

The above is a brief introduction to fennel planting methods. Fennel is actually relatively simple to plant, but we cannot neglect management, otherwise it will have a relatively large impact on planting benefits. That is all for today's introduction.
