Ginger is an important seasoning-type vegetable with a relatively high market price, and many growers plant ginger to increase their income, but ginger is mainly harvested for its stems that grow underground, and for some reasons, ginger is very prone to rotting during the growth process, and now we will mainly introduce to everyone the main causes of ginger rotting and how it should be prevented and controlled. How to prevent rotten ginger.

1. Excessive fertilization

Ginger is tolerant of fertilizer, but it is enough as long as its needs are met. Some farmers, however, apply chemical fertilizer excessively. Do not fertilize blindly. Generally, in one growth cycle, in addition to the base fertilizer, topdressing is done twice: once when the plants grow to 30 to 40 cm, when topdressing mainly applies farmyard manure, 800 kg per mu. The other time is in summer when the ginger begins to form roots, when 1000 kg of farmyard manure is applied per mu. After that, do not topdress again. Too much topdressing cannot be absorbed by the root system and will cause root rot in the soil. Fertilization should be done according to need, the fertilizer concentration should not be too high, and more farmyard manure should be applied.

2. Improper fertilization

Some chemical fertilizers and compound fertilizers are very high in concentration. If the fertilizer is not dissolved in water, not diluted, or applied too close to the rhizome, and if the chemical fertilizer is buried in the ground after application, it will damage the roots. Apply less chemical fertilizer; for farmyard manure, poultry manure was used. Poultry manure is too hot in nature and will scorch the roots, and once it comes into contact with moisture, they rot. Therefore, apply less chemical fertilizer, and when applying chemical fertilizer, keep it farther away, and do not cover or bury it.

3. Caused by disease

The main disease causing rotten ginger is ginger blast, which is mainly carried and infected by seeds and soil, and after infection the ginger will rot. Therefore, a 50% carbendazim 800-fold solution, 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate, 0.2% borax, and an 800-fold solution of Sandofan can be used to soak the seeds; 60 kg of agricultural potassium carbonate per mu can be applied for soil disinfection treatment; when field disease occurs, a 600-fold solution of Sandofan can be used for root irrigation treatment.

4. High temperature and high humidity

In summer, during the season when ginger rhizomes grow, the temperature is very high, and most areas have a lot of rain. If at this time the planting site is relatively low, the soil is relatively clayey, and water retention is too good, water will accumulate after heavy rain, and being humid and hot, the rhizomes cannot breathe and are prone to rotting. Therefore, it must be planted in places with a lower groundwater level, and planted in high places with smooth drainage; for flat land, multiple drainage channels must be dug to drain water in time, and plant ash should be scattered to absorb moisture.

Rotten ginger is mainly caused by pathogen damage or the influence of the natural environment. Therefore, every effort must be made to create a good growing environment; with a good growing environment, there will also be much less pathogens. The soil must be disinfected to purify the growing environment.
