Chili is an indispensable market in our lives, with huge market demand. In rural areas, basically every household grows some. For farmers, germinating chili seeds still poses some difficulty. Below, the editor will introduce the methods and precautions for germinating chili seeds, hoping it can help you. Let's take a look together.

I. Seed Soaking

After selecting the seeds, they need to be soaked. Soak the seeds at a temperature of 40-55 degrees for 5-6 hours, then remove and air-dry them. Then place them in a seed-soaking agent for 7-8 hours. The seed-soaking agent consists of trace elements such as copper sulfate and zinc sulfate to increase chili yield and promote early maturity. Of course, trisodium phosphate, sodium hydroxide and other substances can also be added to disinfect the seeds. After soaking is complete, remove and wash them, and then they are ready for germination treatment.

II. Germination Methods

There are two germination methods. The first is the ordinary germination method: after soaking, rinse the seeds repeatedly with clean water to remove the spicy taste, then wrap them in cloth and place them in a basin, covering with a wet gauze. Control the germination environment temperature at 28-30 degrees, wash twice a day with warm water, and generally they will sprout in 4-5 days. The second is the variable-temperature germination method. Temperature has a great influence on chili seed germination, with the suitable temperature being between 25-35 degrees, but constant temperature will lead to uneven seed sprouting, so in many cases alternating high and low temperatures are used for germination. After wrapping the seeds in wet cloth, control at 28-30 degrees for 16-18 hours per day, then control the temperature at 16-20 degrees for 6-8 hours. To allow the seeds to be heated evenly, turn and rub-wash them about 2 times a day. After most of the seeds have sprouted, place them in an environment of about 10 degrees for low-temperature hardening.

III. Precautions for Germination

Chili seed germination has very strict oxygen requirements. The breathability of the gauze must be enhanced to ensure an oxygen content above 10%, otherwise they will not sprout. Depending on the number of chili seeds being germinated, three different methods can be used for cultivation: an incubator, a germination room, or a germination bed.
