When cultivating mushrooms, substrate logs are one of the inoculation methods, and the way substrate logs are used differs for different mushrooms. Some farmers use corncobs as substrate logs to cultivate oyster mushrooms; although mushroom buds appear on the mycelium, the fruiting bodies grow slowly. What should be done about this? Let us find out together.

1. Choose varieties carefully

According to the adaptability of the fruiting bodies to temperature, cultivated oyster mushroom varieties can be roughly divided into 4 types: high-temperature type, medium-temperature type, wide-temperature type, and low-temperature type. If the variety is chosen improperly during cultivation, delayed fruiting or even no fruiting may occur. Therefore, for oyster mushroom cultivation, suitable varieties should be reasonably selected according to the fruiting season and the local climate.

2. Choose superior spawn

Oyster mushroom spawn refers to the pure culture of oyster mushroom mycelium and can be divided into mother spawn, stock spawn, and cultivation spawn, etc. The spawn must not have mixed varieties, impure spawn, or contamination by unwanted microorganisms; otherwise, it will lead to no fruiting and slow fruiting in oyster mushrooms. Therefore, farmers must choose superior spawn in production to ensure the purity of the spawn, so as to avoid spawn contamination that affects the cultivation benefits of oyster mushrooms and causes economic losses.

3. Fruiting management

When oyster mushrooms are fruiting, several points should be noted. First, keep the mushroom shed well ventilated. If ventilation is poor, the carbon dioxide concentration in the greenhouse is relatively high, and air flow is poor, it will cause slow growth of fruiting bodies and poor growth, among other conditions. Second, regulate the temperature well. According to the temperature requirements for fruiting of the oyster mushroom variety type, adjust the temperature of the fruiting shed to meet the temperature needs of the fruiting bodies as much as possible. Finally, ensure humidity. The development of oyster mushroom fruiting bodies requires a moist environment, with a humidity requirement of 75%-95%. Improper humidity can also cause slow or abnormal growth of the fruiting bodies.
