What are the methods for making narcissus leaves curl
I. Operating methods
1. Peel the bulb. First, strip off the membrane on the narcissus bulb, along with the soil and dead roots, cleaning it all away. This is done to remove dirt and prevent it from rotting.
2. Carve the flower bud. After that, carry out the "lid-opening" step, taking care that the depth of the knife does not exceed the radius of the bulb. Once this is done, then begin the actual carving. Hold the narcissus head in your left hand, press the index finger of your right hand against the blade, and cut upward from a point about 1 cm on the bulb disc on the front side, shaving off the scales until all the leaf bud shoots are exposed. Note that when carving, we must not injure the flower stalk or the flower buds. In addition, if there are two or more flower stems, then the leaf and flower buds must be fully exposed before proceeding.
3. Treat the leaves. To make the narcissus leaves curl, we need to treat the leaf buds on both sides of the flower bud. Cut upward from below the leaf, or from top to bottom; either is fine. Gently shave off a small portion of the leaf, about one-fifth to two-fifths. Note that when cutting from bottom to top, you can make the lower part small and the upper part large, that is, shave more from the upper half. Also, we can use the thumb to loosen the leaves on both sides, that is, separate the leaves from the flower bud, and then gently shave with the knife.
4. Carve the flower scape stalk. This has roughly the same effect as shaving the leaf buds. Make the cuts according to the desired shape, and be careful not to cut too aggressively, otherwise it will be unable to grow normally. Specifically, the carving methods include the "flower pot," "peacock spreading its tail," and "flower basket" styles, and the treatment for each is not entirely the same.
II. Precautions
1. Be careful during the operation; do not cut too deep and injure the root stem.
2. When treating the leaves, do not cut off too many leaves.
