What to Do When Winter Jasmine's Blooming Period Is Short? Here's How to Extend It
1. Temperature
(1) Influencing factor: We all know that many plants cannot bloom without the support of temperature, and the plant we're discussing today is certainly no exception. To make it bloom, temperature is an indispensable factor, which is also why it opens in early spring.
(2) Specific measures: If we grow it indoors, we can adjust the room temperature to keep it above 8°C, which will not only make the flowers bloom more beautifully but, more importantly, extend the blooming period so we can enjoy them a while longer. If it is planted outdoors, some measures can also be taken, such as covering it with plastic film, which may also extend the blooming period.
2. Fertilizer
(1) Influencing factor: To make the plant bloom, you must provide it with enough nutrients. Compared with normal growth, blooming requires more nutrients. So when the nutrients absorbed from the soil are insufficient, we need to supplement them artificially, especially when the soil is relatively poor.
(2) Specific measures: Before blooming, we can apply an organic liquid fertilizer once. Be careful not to make it too concentrated; a diluted one will do, otherwise it may cause harm instead. Also, make sure it is fully decomposed. By doing so, the plant's flowers will be more vivid and the blooming period will be somewhat extended.
3. Wind
(1) Influencing factor: Wind is also one of the factors affecting blooming.
(2) Specific measures: If it is a potted plant at home, do not place it in a drafty spot; if it is outdoors, provide appropriate shelter from strong winds.
