What to Do When Four O'Clock Flower Leaves Wilt? Cause Analysis and Solutions

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Although it is called "four o'clock flower" (Mirabilis jalapa), its colors are not limited to purple alone; there are also purplish red, variegated, or yellow varieties. From June to October each year, we can observe its flowers. However, if its leaves wilt, it will prevent us from enjoying their beauty, so what should we do then?

1. Watering Problems

Cause: Regarding water, there are two possible reasons that can cause leaves to wilt. The first is too little water, where wilting occurs due to lack of moisture. The second is the completely opposite situation, where overwatering causes root rot, which in turn harms the plant's leaves.

Solution: If it is related to the leaves, then we need to distinguish the situation before taking the corresponding measures. First check the moisture condition of the potting soil. If there is little water and the soil is dry, then you need to replenish water appropriately, or sprinkle some water on the leaves. If the potting soil is in a very wet state, then you need to control watering, or pay attention when choosing potting soil and select those with good drainage.

2. Light Intensity Problems

Cause: If the light is too strong, it may also cause the leaves to wilt, and the stronger the light, the more severe the symptoms may be. We can observe the plant's condition. If the situation improves at night, then this may be the cause.

Solution: If this is the reason, then we need to adjust the plant's light exposure time. Appropriately reduce the time it receives light. In addition, appropriate shading measures need to be taken at noon to prevent sunburn.

3. Pest Problems

Cause: Some pests will bite and gnaw at the plant's roots, thereby threatening the plant's leaves. This is also one of the possible causes.

Solution: For this situation, we had best choose to spray suitable pesticides for prevention and control.
