Detailed Explanation of the Latest Cultivation Methods and Techniques for Snow Fungus
Snow fungus cultivation is not easy and is relatively complex. In the past, snow fungus was very expensive, and even now the price of snow fungus is not cheap. How to cultivate snow fungus, how to grow snow fungus, and the growing process - we will introduce them one by one below to help everyone get a simple understanding of snow fungus cultivation methods. Let's see what kind of growing conditions need to be provided.
1. Planting period
Snow fungus is mainly planted in spring and autumn. The most suitable temperature is 25°C to 28°C, and generally 25°C is enough for cultivation. The corresponding temperature must be reached; if the temperature is not enough, it cannot grow. Growth will not be good. Generally, snow fungus can mature in about one month to one and a half months after cultivation. Among this, mycelial growth alone takes half a month to a little over half a month. Therefore, attention must be paid to determining the suitable time.
2. Preparing the spawn
Snow fungus mycelium cannot decompose the lignocellulose in wood, and growth on sawdust culture is slow. It only grows within the range of the fruit body base; the mycelium is not tolerant of moisture and forms spores on a condensation water slant medium. Take material from the fruit body base for the spawn, place it in a silica gel desiccator after taking it out, and after a few months take it out and transfer it onto a slant medium. Keep it above 22°C, grow for a little over half a month, and obtain mycelium.
3. Culture material
⟦NL>The mycelium must be inoculated into the culture material to continue growing, so now the culture medium material must continue to be prepared. Use cottonseed hulls, wheat bran, and add gypsum. It is best to use cottonseed hulls from the current year, with none spoiled. Wheat bran also must not be old. Add water to all the ingredients and stir them together: 83% cottonseed hulls, 15% wheat bran, 2% gypsum. Then put it into special bags, tie them well, and then steam and sterilize. After sterilization and cooling, take them to a sterile room for inoculation.
4. Management during fruiting
For a little over a week, spray water three times a day, keep the temperature at 22°C, and keep the environmental humidity at 80%. Ventilate three times, ten minutes each time, in a low-light environment. After half a month, when the mycelium has fully grown, untie one end of the binding, spray more water, keep the temperature unchanged, increase the humidity to 85%, ventilate four times, 20 minutes each time, and drain off the yellow water. After about 20 days, primordia appear; cut the film, keep the humidity at 90%, and ventilate for half an hour each time. After 25 days, the fruiting bodies emerge; remove the cloth, keep it moist, and ventilate for about one hour each time. After a little over one month, do not spray water, lower the humidity to 80%, and ventilate for half an hour. Harvest on sunny days.
Snow fungus cultivation methods are somewhat different from those of other edible fungi, so special attention is needed. For spawn production, pay attention to disinfection when preparing the culture material to prevent contaminating bacteria. Management after inoculation mainly involves humidity, temperature, and ventilation management.
