Spinach is a very common vegetable in our daily lives. It also has a large planting area in our country. When growing spinach, some basic management work is very important. Especially fertilization, as rational fertilization is the key measure for providing spinach with growth nutrients. Before fertilizing spinach, we must first fully understand the fertilizer requirements of spinach. So what are the fertilizer requirements of spinach? Let's take a look below!

1. Fertilizer requirement amount

Spinach is a vegetable with a relatively fast growth rate. Its growth period is not very long, but it has a relatively large yield. Therefore, during the growth period of spinach, the demand for fertilizer is still relatively large, especially nitrogen fertilizer. Sufficient fertilizer can meet the nutrients required for spinach's growth. Professional survey data on young fruit shows that when growing spinach, for every 1000 kg of yield produced, about 2.5 kg of pure nitrogen is needed. Among these, the demand for potassium chloride is greater, reaching 5.3 kg, and finally phosphorus pentoxide, which also requires about 0.9 kg.

2. Demand for nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium

Based on the types, amounts and timing of nitrogen fertilizer application during spinach growth, spinach prefers nitrate nitrogen fertilizer. The amount of nitrate nitrogen should be about twice that of ammonium nitrogen. Ammonium nitrogen alone should not be used, otherwise it will affect spinach's absorption of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers and hinder growth. Likewise, nitrate nitrogen alone should not be used. Even though nitrate nitrogen alone can ensure spinach's growth amount, spinach will consume a large amount of energy during reduction. Moreover, if there is insufficient light, it will also inhibit spinach's absorption of nitrate nitrogen, resulting in too little nitrogen supply.

Applying phosphate fertilizer basically does not affect the nitrate in spinach, but when increasing spinach yield, it can appropriately reduce the nitrate content. Potassium has the effect of inhibiting nitrate reduction, and increasing the amount of potassium fertilizer can increase the nitrate content and yield of spinach. However, when applying potassium chloride, the nitrate content in spinach is lower than with potassium sulfate. If the available phosphorus content in the soil is high, it is very beneficial to spinach yield. Therefore, appropriately increasing the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers can effectively increase spinach yield.

3. Trace elements

When applying nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, we should also pay attention to supplementing spinach's trace elements. Although trace elements such as sodium, calcium and magnesium will not affect the nitrate content in spinach. But appropriately applying lime can not only reduce the nitrate content in spinach, but also increase spinach yield. If the soil lacks molybdenum, then appropriately applying molybdenum fertilizer can effectively reduce the nitrate content. And if it lacks elements such as manganese and copper, then it will affect spinach yield and cause the nitrate content to increase.

The above is a brief introduction to the fertilizer requirements of spinach. That is all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only, and I hope it can help everyone!
