A Detailed Guide to the Latest Methods for Storing and Preserving Edible Mushrooms
Edible mushrooms are an extremely popular food in our country, and there are very many varieties of edible mushrooms. And no matter which kind of edible mushroom it is, we all need to do a good job of storing them. Storage can maintain the fine strain characteristics of edible mushrooms and extend their useful life. Therefore, the storage and preservation of edible mushrooms is very important, so today the editor has brought you storage and preservation methods for edible mushrooms. Below the editor will give a brief introduction, let's take a look!
1. Low-temperature storage at the bottom of a well
Low-temperature storage at the bottom of a well is one of the most commonly used methods for storing edible mushrooms in our country. For friends who have their own water well, this is a method you can choose. First, we need to take the test-tube mother cultures of edible mushrooms to be stored, apply an appropriate amount of paraffin with a disinfected, sterile rubber stopper, and seal them tightly. Then place them in a sealed wide-mouth bottle or a watertight plastic bag and tie it tightly. Then put it at the bottom of the well for storage. Under normal circumstances, it can be stored for 3-4 months.
2. Paraffin sealing storage
Paraffin sealing storage is also a commonly used method for storing edible mushrooms. First, we need to cut sterile wax paper into squares of about 7 cm, then soak them in alcohol for about one minute. Then hold the mouth of the test-tube culture to be stored above an alcohol lamp and rotate it to sterilize it. Then take out the wax paper and tie the tube mouth tightly. Then place the tube mouth into melted paraffin and wrap it tightly with the wax paper to avoid air leakage. After the paraffin cools, put it in the refrigerator to preserve it.
3. Cellophane sealing storage
For cellophane sealing storage, you first need to prepare a sealing agent by putting gelatin, copper sulfate, methylene blue and other items into hot water to dissolve and mix together. Then remove the cotton plug from the test-tube culture that is fully covered with mother culture, turn the tube mouth downward, and seal it with the sealing agent. Then soak the cellophane in it, then stick it over the tube mouth and seal it with melted paraffin. At room temperature, this storage method can last at least 8 months at most, and it can also prevent contamination by pathogens and insect pests.
4. Manure storage
Manure storage is very suitable for storing straw-rotting fungi such as button mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus). First, the decomposed cow dung and other materials should be sun-dried and crushed, then sifted through a screen, and an appropriate amount of water should be added to adjust the moisture. Put it into test tubes, keeping the depth at about half. Then carry out sterilization work, and after ensuring it is sterile, inoculate. After the mycelium has fully grown, store it in an environment of about 3 degrees, and its storage time is very long, and its production traits will not show major changes.
