When planting celery, some people always feel that their harvest is not ideal, but they do not know which aspects they did not do well. In fact, when planting celery, as long as you pay attention to these problems, the yield everyone grows will basically be similar. Let's take a look below at some considerations you may have overlooked!

1. Germination temperature

A low emergence rate naturally harms yield. In fact, most seeds that fail to sprout could originally have sprouted; it is just that growers pursue natural germination and do not take some sprouting measures, which leads to more failures. The most important thing for sprouting is temperature. The suitable temperature for celery germination is around 22°C. The lower the temperature, the smaller the chance of sprouting, but the maximum should also not exceed around 28°C. It is recommended to sow earlier, so that before the low nighttime temperatures arrive, most seeds can be guaranteed to have already met their temperature requirement time.

2. Be willing to cull

When planting, do not be afraid of trouble. Celery seeds are not worth much, so when planting, replant in time. For celery planted in the same batch, if one group sprouts extremely slowly or the latter does not sprout, then cull them in time. Do not be reluctant when you see that they have sprouted a little; such seedlings are very difficult to grow well. The same applies when disease is found. Be willing to cull, otherwise waiting for the disease to spread and infect others is the real big problem.

3. Shade and sun protection

It is true that celery needs sunlight, but the season for planting celery is basically in a period when light is too strong, so shading and sun protection are needed, especially at the seedling stage. Generally, just pulling up a shade net is enough, especially under continuous strong-light weather, because celery seedlings themselves have poor water retention capacity, and over time they are prone to withering and dying.

4. Control humidity

The entire growth cycle of celery relatively needs moisture, so humidity has a great impact on celery. Humidity here mainly includes two aspects: one is soil humidity, and the other is air humidity. For open-field planting, it is enough to ensure good soil humidity. The soil should preferably visibly appear to be in a moist state, but do not let water accumulate. Air humidity is something to pay more attention to inside greenhouses; simply turn on mist-type watering equipment regularly.

The above are some problems to pay attention to when planting celery. Celery is planted at relatively high density, so management must be more careful, otherwise problems are likely to appear in batches.
