Lettuce is a vegetable that everyone enjoys eating very much, especially now that hot pot, barbecue and the like are becoming more and more popular, the demand for lettuce is also growing. So there are still quite a lot of people growing lettuce now, and the growing method for lettuce is generally based on open-field cultivation, so how should lettuce be cultivated in the open field? Today the editor has brought you the technical key points for open-field cultivation of lettuce, let's take a look below!

1. Preparation before sowing

Before sowing lettuce, we first need to select good lettuce seeds. Lettuce is divided into head lettuce and loose-leaf lettuce. When planting, we need to select good varieties according to market demand and the local climate and environment. After selecting the varieties, then pay attention to the preparation of the seedbed. When raising lettuce seedlings, we should mainly use fertile soil with good water and fertilizer retention. If conditions permit, then we can also make it ourselves. Use organic fertilizer, ammonium sulfate and other fertilizers for preparation, mix them thoroughly and then spread them flat and rake them fine, pour in enough bottom water, and once the water has seeped down, sowing can begin.

2. Sowing and seedling raising

When sowing, we should mix an appropriate amount of fine sandy soil into the seeds, mainly to ensure even broadcasting. After sowing, we should also pay attention to covering with a layer of fine soil. Then cover with a layer of plastic film to improve the soil's moisture retention. The sowing rate per mu should be kept at about 40g. When the seedlings emerge, promptly uncover the plastic film on the seedbed to avoid leggy growth of the seedlings. The seedbed temperature should be kept at around 20 degrees during the day and around 12 degrees at night. At the same time, do a good job of ventilation and air exchange, and if there is strong light, pay attention to shading.

3. Reasonable fertilization

Lettuce growth has relatively high requirements for soil. It must contain rich organic matter and also ensure the soil's water and fertilizer retention capacity. Lettuce generally likes to grow in slightly acidic soil, so the soil pH value should be kept at around 6. Generally, for every 1000kg of lettuce produced, the demand ratio for nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium is about 2.5:1.2:4.5 kg. If it is head lettuce, then its demand will be even greater. During its growth period, we should pay attention to reasonably combining nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and other fertilizers. Before planting, apply sufficient base fertilizer, mainly decomposed farmyard manure, and after fertilizing, deeply plow the soil and pour in enough bottom water.

4. Planting management

One day before lettuce planting, pay attention to thoroughly watering the seedbed to ensure the soil is moist. Then when lifting the seedlings the next day, mainly transplant with soil to avoid damage to the roots. When planting, first open furrows on the bed surface, keep the furrow depth at about 5 cm, then apply an appropriate amount of compound fertilizer and water. Throughout the entire growth period of lettuce, the demand for water is relatively high. So about one week after planting, water once to help the seedlings recover, and carry out about two rounds of intertillage and weeding. Then water about three times, and when watering, apply nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer in stages.

The above is a brief introduction to the technical key points for open-field cultivation of lettuce. That is all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only, and we hope it can help everyone!
