Eggplant is a fruiting vegetable that many people enjoy eating very much, and its planting area in our country is very large. When growing eggplant, we need to carry out management work well according to the growth stages of the eggplant. Especially during the eggplant seedling stage, its management work is particularly important, so we must be sure to do a good job of managing the eggplant seedling stage. So how exactly should it be managed? Today the editor has brought you the management techniques for the eggplant seedling stage. Let us take a look together below!

1. Temperature management

Before the eggplant emerges, its daytime temperature should be maintained at around 25 degrees, and the film should be kept sealed. Every morning, be sure to cover it well with straw mats, and then uncover them every evening. This can speed up the time for the eggplant seedlings to emerge. During the period from emergence to pricking out, the daytime temperature must not exceed the range of 25-28 degrees, and the day-night temperature difference should be maintained at around 10 degrees. After the seedlings emerge, remove the plastic film to provide them with light. After pricking out, the temperature remains unchanged, but one week before transplanting, be sure to lower the temperature appropriately to harden the seedlings. When the heart leaves of the eggplant seedlings grow, increase ventilation and gradually lower the temperature to avoid seedling scorch.

2. Applying soil in stages

When sowing, we need to cover with a layer of fine soil. Then during the eggplant seedling stage, we should also pay attention to doing a good job of applying soil in stages. Generally, after the eggplant seeds push through the soil and emerge and after the seedlings come up evenly, soil should be applied appropriately. In addition, every time thinning and watering are done, a layer of fine soil should also be applied appropriately. Before covering with fine soil, we first need to prepare it in advance. The fine soil to be applied should be preheated in the greenhouse before use, and then we should also pay attention to the soil thickness, which must not be too thick and should be maintained at about 0.2 cm.

3. Thinning and weeding

During the eggplant seedling stage, we should also do a good job of thinning. Usually, thinning should be done about twice during the entire seedling stage, and it should first be carried out before pricking out. When the seedlings have grown about two cotyledons, carry out the first thinning. Thin out the seedlings that are growing too densely, and the spacing between each robust seedling should be maintained at about 1 cm, with no double plants left. Then when the first true leaf of the seedlings unfolds, carry out the second thinning, following the principle of keeping the good and removing the poor, with the spacing between seedlings controlled at about 2 cm. Then when thinning, we should also pay attention to doing a good job of weeding to prevent weeds from robbing the eggplant of nutrients for growth.

4. Timely pricking out

When the eggplant seedlings have grown about 3 leaves, we need to do a good job of pricking out. If pricking out is done too late, then the eggplant seedlings will grow too crowded, affecting flower bud differentiation. About three days before pricking out, we should water once to facilitate even seedling establishment later and prevent damage to the roots. Then when lifting the seedlings, grading should be done according to the size of the seedlings, and they should be planted separately. And before pricking out, prepare the soil in advance, level it, control the row spacing at about 10 cm, dig planting furrows about 3 cm deep, and then pour in an appropriate amount of warm water to begin pricking out.

The above is a brief introduction to eggplant seedling-stage management techniques. That is all for today's introduction. This article is for reference only, and we hope it can help everyone!
