Latest Rapeseed Seed Prices and Detailed Planting Methods
Rapeseed is the most important oil crop in China, also known as yuntai, hancai, hucai, etc. It is an annual or biennial herbaceous plant of the genus Brassica in the crucifer family, with a seed oil content of 33-50%. The main cultivated (variety) types at present are cabbage-type rapeseed, mustard-type rapeseed, and cabbage-type (Brassica napus) rapeseed, etc. Now let us take a look at rapeseed seed prices and planting methods together!
How much do rapeseed seeds cost?
| Variety Name | Packaging Specification | Reference Price | Variety Characteristics |
| Ganza No. 1 | 100 g/bag | 12-15 yuan/bag | Medium-maturing winter type, cold and drought tolerant, resistant to viral disease, tolerant to sclerotinia |
| American High-Yield Oil King | 100 g/bag | 5-8 yuan/bag | Semi-winter type, medium-late maturing, disease resistant, lodging resistant, high yield |
| Xike Oil No. 1 | 100 g/bag | 6-7 yuan/bag | Winter type, medium-early maturing, cold and drought tolerant, resistant to viral disease |
| Early-Maturing No. 98 | 100 g/bag | 5-6 yuan/piece | Strong winter type, cold and drought tolerant, disease resistant, lodging resistant |
Note: Rapeseed is one of the most important oil crops, and its seed price is generally around 5-6 yuan per jin, but it varies depending on the variety, quality, and place of origin of the seeds. The above prices are for reference only; please refer to the actual prices.
Sowing Methods for Rapeseed
1. Select good seeds: Rapeseed cultivated in China can be divided into three major types: cabbage type, mustard type, and cabbage (Brassica napus) type. Choose varieties with good quality, disease resistance, high yield, and bolting tolerance, such as Xiao Qingcui, Huaguan, Jinglü No. 2, etc.
2. Apply sufficient base fertilizer: Usually apply 3000-5000 kg of high-quality fully decomposed farmyard manure, 20-25 kg of diammonium phosphate, 10-15 kg of potassium sulfate, or 40-50 kg of 45% ternary compound fertilizer per mu.
3. Seed treatment: Before sowing, place the seeds in a place with sufficient light and sun-dry them for 3-4 hours, then soak the seeds in 50°C warm water for 20-30 minutes, then soak them in 20°C-30°C water for 2-3 hours. After drying, they can be sown directly.
4. Fine sowing: Generally sow in late March, using about 350 g of seeds per mu. Before sowing, water according to soil moisture conditions to create sufficient moisture. Sow after the water has seeped in. When sowing, open 5 furrows in a 1 m wide bed, with a furrow depth of 1.5-2 cm, and sow the seeds evenly in the furrows.
Planting Methods for Rapeseed
1. Thinning and final singling: When two needle-like leaves unfold, carry out the first thinning with a seedling spacing of 3-4 cm. At the 4-leaf 1-heart stage, carry out the second thinning with a seedling spacing of 8-10 cm, leaving about 40,000 plants per mu. Water demand is relatively low during the seedling stage, and generally no watering is needed unless there is drought. After final singling, water 3-4 times.
2. Clear ditches and drain waterlogging: In areas with more rain in spring, pay attention to drainage. Waterlogging not only seriously affects the normal growth and development of rapeseed, but also easily leads to the occurrence and spread of diseases such as sclerotinia. Therefore, in spring, special attention should be paid to clearing ditches and draining waterlogging in rapeseed fields.
3. Spray boron fertilizer: Boron deficiency in rapeseed can cause flowers without seeds and flower reversion. For fields without basal boron fertilizer, spray on the leaves during the bud-bolting stage and early flowering stage. For fields with severe soil boron deficiency and no basal boron fertilizer, spray boron fertilizer once during the rapeseed seedling stage.
4. Apply bolting fertilizer: To prevent later lodging and delayed maturity with excessive vegetative growth, fertilizing after the new year is generally not recommended, but for fields with insufficient winter fertilizer, poor growth, and a tendency toward premature senescence, an appropriate amount of bolting fertilizer should be supplemented. For fields with a large amount of winter fertilizer and vigorous growth, no more bolting fertilizer should be applied.
5. Prevent lodging: If rapeseed is poorly managed in the early stage and grows too vigorously, or if there is too much fertilizer and water in the later stage, lodging can occur. When rapeseed lodges, try to straighten the plants as much as possible and place some branches underneath for support. For fields with high humidity, focus on clearing ditches and draining waterlogging.
6. Pest and disease control: The main diseases prone to occur in spring open-field rapeseed are sclerotinia, downy mildew, black rot, etc., and the main pests are aphids, leafminers, etc. To control diseases, promptly remove old leaves and diseased leaves. When the diseased leaf rate reaches above 10%, pesticides can be used for control.
