Green soybeans are a relatively important food crop in our country. They have strong adaptability to the environment and are grown throughout our country, with the most famous green soybean producing area being the Northeast region. Green soybeans contain rich nutrients, and eating them can help maintain the elasticity of blood vessels, lower blood cholesterol levels, and nourish the liver and stomach. They also have certain therapeutic effects on prostatitis, liver cancer, skin cancer, and more. So how do you grow green soybeans? Today, the editor brings you the methods for growing green soybeans. Those who are interested can take a look.

1. Seed Selection and Land Preparation

Green soybeans have relatively strong resistance in all aspects. Generally, we only need to select seeds that are plump and free from pest and disease damage. Next, seeds that have been stored for too many years cannot be used, as their germination rate is very low. Also, green soybeans are divided into two types: green-skinned, green-cored green soybeans and green-skinned, yellow-cored green soybeans. You can choose the most suitable variety to plant according to market conditions. Generally, use soil that is relatively loose, well-drained, and whose previous crop was not legumes or melons and nightshades. During land preparation, plow deeply, clean up the remaining pest eggs in the field, then spread sufficient base fertilizer and mix it evenly before planting.

2. Sowing and Raising Seedlings

There are actually two sowing methods. The first is hole sowing, which means sowing three to four seeds at an appropriate density in prepared soil, covering them, and waiting for seedlings to emerge. The second is sowing and raising seedlings. First, evenly scatter the seeds in a seedbed to raise seedlings. After a period of seedling management, you can transplant and plant them. The sowing time for green soybeans is generally from the end of May to early July each year. Seedlings sown during this period will have a higher emergence rate.

3. Transplanting and Establishing

Before planting, you can spread an appropriate amount of NPK compound fertilizer in the field. This can increase yield, improve the quality of green soybeans, and increase their commercial value. Then plant at a density of 50 cm per row and 45 cm per plant. Also, when planting, you can scatter 1 gram of carbofuran beside each plant, which can control some underground pests.

4. Field Management

One week after planting, check the growth of the green soybean seedlings in the field. If any dead plants appear, replant them promptly, and water and fertilize to ensure uniform seedlings in the field. Next, after the green soybean seedlings survive and grow new branches, leaves, and roots, we need to fertilize. During this period, mainly use nitrogen fertilizer and potassium fertilizer. At the same time, water to dilute the nutrient concentration so as not to damage the roots of the green soybeans. Also carry out intertillage and weeding to promote nutrient absorption. In the later stage, that is, the flowering and pod-setting stage, mainly use potassium fertilizer, and also spray an appropriate amount of foliar fertilizer.

5. Pest and Disease Control

The disease that harms green soybeans the most is downy mildew. We can prevent it by strengthening field management. At the same time, in the early stage of the disease, chlorothalonil can be used for control, once a week, spraying two to three times. The main pests are bean pod borers and fruit borers. We can use dimethoate emulsion and fenvalerate for spraying, respectively, or we can use trichlorfon and phorate granules, and the effect is also very good.

6. Timely Harvesting

Pay attention to the harvesting time for green soybeans. Generally, we need to harvest when the pods are relatively plump and have a slightly yellow-green color. Do not wait until the pods turn yellow and old, because the green soybeans harvested then will not be tender. At the same time, we also need to keep seeds. Pods kept for seed must be harvested only when they are very hard. Of course, do not wait until the pods split open to harvest, as the loss would be relatively large then.
