The Latest Fertilization Methods and Technical Points for Mung Beans
Mung bean is a common legume in daily life. It can be made into a variety of delicious foods and has high nutritional and economic value. When growing mung beans, fertilization is an important point, as it relates to the yield and quality of mung beans and indirectly affects the income of farmers. So how should mung beans be fertilized? Let's take a look together.
1. Nutrient Requirements
Mung bean is a crop with a relatively large fertilizer demand. According to research, for every 100 kg of mung beans produced, 9.68 kg of nitrogen, 2.93 kg of phosphorus, and 3.51 kg of potassium are absorbed. Therefore, when planting, the three fertilizers nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium are mainly applied, with nitrogen fertilizer as the main one, evenly matched with the other two fertilizers, so that growth proceeds smoothly and yield and quality are improved.
2. Fertilization Principles
Mung bean is a deep-rooted plant, and its cotyledons are thick and large. Therefore, when planting, the soil must be strictly prepared by deep plowing and fine harrowing, so that the soil is loose on top and firm below, with uniform depth, to facilitate smooth emergence of seedlings. Mung bean itself has rhizobia and can fix and absorb nitrogen on its own, but fertilizer still needs to be applied; otherwise, the yield will be low. When fertilizing, the principles to follow are: mainly farmyard manure with inorganic fertilizer as a supplement; mixed application of farmyard manure and inorganic fertilizer; and applying sufficient base fertilizer with timely topdressing.
3. Fertilization Methods
Before planting, the soil should be plowed, and base fertilizer should be applied at this time. The base fertilizer is mainly farmyard manure such as human excrement and urine, plant ash, and livestock manure, applied at 1000-3000 kg per mu. Topdressing is generally done at the seedling stage and flowering stage. Fertilizing at the seedling stage can make the seedlings grow quickly and robustly. Each time, apply 10 kg of urea or high-nitrogen compound fertilizer per mu, with corresponding increases or decreases according to actual conditions. During the branching and flowering and pod-setting stages, foliar fertilizer can be sprayed. The foliar fertilizer can use urea and potassium fertilizer combined with other trace elements, so that the plant can absorb it as quickly as possible and improve fertilizer utilization efficiency.
4. Fertilization Precautions
Phosphorus fertilizer can promote robust growth of mung bean plants, increase branching and pod-setting rates, and improve yield, but mung bean is extremely sensitive to phosphorus fertilizer, so it should not be applied too much at one time. When applying base fertilizer, 20-25 kg of superphosphate can be applied per mu, mixed with the base fertilizer, so as to provide phosphorus supply for the plant throughout the entire growth period.
