A Detailed Guide to the Latest High-Yield Fertilization Techniques for Rapeseed
Rapeseed is widely distributed in China, and it is grown in many regions. Rapeseed is a crop with a high fertilizer demand, and for rapeseed, only reasonable fertilization can achieve high yields. So how should rapeseed be fertilized to achieve high yields? Let's take a look together.
1. Fertilizer Requirements
Rapeseed has a long growth period, a well-developed root system, and a strong ability to absorb nutrients. Its demand for nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers is very high, with the demand for nitrogen fertilizer being the highest, potassium fertilizer second, and phosphorus fertilizer the least. According to research, during the seedling stage, rapeseed's need for nitrogen fertilizer accounts for about 44 of the entire growth period, about 46% from bolting to flowering, and about 10% at maturity; for phosphorus, the seedling stage accounts for 20%, bolting to flowering accounts for 22%, and maturity accounts for about 58%; for potassium fertilizer, the seedling stage accounts for about 24%, bolting to flowering accounts for about 54%, and maturity accounts for about 22%. In addition to nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, it is also relatively sensitive to trace elements such as boron and calcium. When boron is deficient, the yield is not high.
2. Applying Sufficient Base Fertilizer
Rapeseed plants are tall and large and have a high fertilizer demand, so the application of base fertilizer should be emphasized during cultivation. If the base fertilizer is insufficient, the seedlings will grow weak and thin, which will affect plant growth and rapeseed yield. The base fertilizer is mainly organic fertilizer, supplemented by chemical fertilizer. Generally, 2500-3000 kg of organic fertilizer, 25-35 kg of compound fertilizer, and 0.5-1 kg of boron fertilizer are applied per mu. When applying, combine it with land preparation and plowing to apply the organic fertilizer, compound fertilizer and boron fertilizer deeply. Be sure not to apply the fertilizer too shallowly, so as to avoid fertilizer deficiency in the seedlings at a later stage.
3. Reasonable Topdressing
Throughout the entire growth period of rapeseed, in order to ensure sufficient nutrients for growth, in addition to applying sufficient base fertilizer, topdressing should also be done several times. During the seedling stage, in order to promote root growth, 300-500 kg of human excrement and urine, 5-7 kg of urea, and 10-15 kg of ammonium bicarbonate should be topdressed per mu depending on the seedling condition. During overwintering, in order to increase low-temperature resistance and allow it to overwinter safely, generally 3000-4000 kg of farmyard manure and 20 kg of compound fertilizer should be applied per mu. Before fertilizing, first carry out intertillage and weeding, then apply straw mulch, and finally fertilize. In early spring, after the temperature warms up, rapeseed begins to bolt, and at this time nitrogen and potassium fertilizers should also be applied reasonably according to the actual situation.
4. Supplementary Application of Flower and Leaf Fertilizer
The flowering and pod stage of rapeseed is relatively long. Once plants are found to have nutrient deficiency, flower and leaf fertilizer should be applied in time. You can dilute 1 kg of compound fertilizer with 100 kg of water and spray it, or spray a mixed solution of low-concentration urea and potassium dihydrogen phosphate.
