Sunflower is also called sun flower. Its planting area in our country is relatively wide, and the sunflower has relatively strong growth ability and can adapt to various environments fairly quickly. However, when planting on a large scale, we still need to do a good job in field management, and the management of sunflowers will change with their growth stage. So how should sunflowers be managed at different growth stages? Below, the editor brings the specific management methods. Let's take a look!

1. Seedling stage

The seedling stage refers to the period from when sunflower seedlings break through the soil to budding, and the seedling stage lasts about 2 months. During the seedling stage, the aboveground part of the sunflower grows relatively slowly, with growth mainly concentrated in the roots. At this time, the leaves and the flower disc primordium of the sunflower gradually form. This is when the sunflower has the strongest drought resistance. Therefore, we must control water application well. However, because the growth ability of the aboveground part is relatively weak, appropriate topdressing is needed. This promotes root growth, enhances the root's nutrient absorption capacity, and increases the growth rate of the aboveground part.

2. Budding stage

The budding stage is when the sunflower has the strongest growth ability in its entire growth period, and the budding stage lasts about 3 weeks. The demand for water and fertilizer rises sharply, and vegetative growth and reproductive growth proceed together. Therefore, during the budding stage, fertilizer and water management must be strengthened, with timely topdressing and reasonable watering. Then trace elements should be appropriately added to the fertilizer to ensure the nutrients needed for sunflower growth are met. Watering should be done regularly every day, and the amount of fertilizer and water at this stage is almost close to half of the total. If it is insufficient, the growth rate of the sunflower will decrease, and growth may even stop.

3. Flowering stage

After the budding stage ends, the sunflower enters the flowering stage. The flowering stage of the sunflower is not long, usually around 10 days, and the full flowering stage does not exceed 1 week. During the flowering stage, we also need to do a good job in supplementary pollination, and the retention rate of the sunflower's flower disc and branches can reach about 7 days. Artificial pollination is very important for sunflower growth, because the success rate of self-pollination in sunflowers is very low. If supplementary pollination is not carried out, it will lead to a serious shortage of yield, and the oil content of the seeds will also drop greatly.

4. Maturity stage

The last relatively important growth stage is the fruit maturity stage, and the fruit maturity stage will vary according to the planting time. If sown in spring, the maturity stage is about 1-2 months, while if sown in summer, the maturity stage is only about 1 month. Generally, about half a month after successful flowering and pollination, it enters the seed formation stage. During seed formation, attention should be paid to the weather to prevent rain from affecting seed formation. The day-night temperature difference should be controlled well and kept relatively large, and then watering should be controlled and not excessive, to prevent affecting sunflower growth.

The above is a brief introduction to the management methods for sunflowers at different growth stages. Field management of sunflowers is very important for large-scale growers. We should reasonably adjust management methods according to the growth of sunflowers to ensure healthy growth of sunflowers. That is all for today's introduction.
