Rapeseed is the main oilseed crop in our country, with an extremely wide planting area, and it is an important cash crop. During cultivation, if you want to obtain high and superior yields and gain higher returns, field management is extremely important. So how exactly should it be done? Follow the editor to see the detailed introduction.

1. Timely intertillage and weeding

Intertillage can prevent soil compaction or a decline in moisture retention capacity and promote the growth and development of the root system. Especially after watering or the rainy season, the soil is very prone to compaction, with poor air permeability, and in severe cases the roots may die from lack of oxygen. Weeding can remove the competition between weeds and rapeseed for water, fertilizer, and growing space. Too many weeds also make pests and diseases more likely to occur, and at the same time will damage soil microorganisms, so weeding must be timely, and the field should be kept free of weeds. Generally, intertillage and weeding should be carried out 3-4 times each year. During intertillage, follow the principles of shallow hoeing in the early and late stages, deep hoeing in the middle stage, and no hoeing before rain, while weeding should be done early and frequently.

2. Apply topdressing early

If you want rapeseed to grow quickly and well, topdressing is indispensable. Topdressing should be applied early to promote early growth. Rapeseed needs little fertilizer at the seedling stage, but after bolting its fertilizer demand increases sharply, and fertilizer needs a certain amount of time to decompose before it can be absorbed by the plants. Therefore, attention should be paid to base fertilizer and timely topdressing to meet the fertility needs of rapeseed during reproductive growth. At the same time, during the peak growth period, foliar fertilizer should be sprayed to maintain the trace elements needed by the plants. In autumn, combined with intertillage and weeding, apply 25 kg per mu of compound fertilizer mainly based on potassium fertilizer to promote autumn growth. Before the beginning of spring, apply compound fertilizer once more as topdressing to promote spring growth. After fertilizing, properly earth up the soil to prevent the plants from lodging and improve fertilizer use efficiency.

3. Pest and disease control

Rapeseed still has relatively many pests and diseases during cultivation. At the seedling stage, there are pests such as cabbage caterpillars, aphids, cutworms, and mole crickets causing damage, and insecticide can be sprayed to control them. Another disease at the seedling stage that causes relatively serious damage is downy mildew, so drainage should be timely, or spray Roushuitong solution once every week for prevention. The main disease at the flowering stage is sclerotinia, and Roushuitong should likewise be sprayed for prevention at the flowering stage; while the pathogens at the pod-setting stage are white rust and aphids. Aphids can be controlled by spraying trichlorfon, and white rust can be controlled by spraying Namixin.
