The Latest Flax Fertilization Techniques and Methods Tutorial
Flax is the earliest natural plant fiber used by humans. In addition, flax is also an oil crop, rich in unsaturated fatty acids, which can prevent high blood lipids and arteriosclerosis, and has extremely high cultivation value. If you want to grow flax well, fertilization is extremely important. Let's take a look at the flax fertilization techniques below.
1. Nutrient Requirements
During the growth process of flax, the nutrients required are relatively large, and they are irreplaceable, so during planting, the nutrients needed for flax growth must be supplied in a balanced manner to achieve the goal of high yield and excellent quality. Regarding the nutrient requirements of flax, in the early growth stage, the absorption amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are 10%, 5% and 4%; when it reaches the vigorous growth stage, the absorption capacity rises significantly, and the demand for nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium is divided into 34%, 19% and 32%; by the flowering stage, the cumulative absorption of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium has already reached more than 95%, and nutrient absorption decreases significantly in the later stage.
2. Apply Heavy Farmyard Manure
Farmyard manure is a fertilizer that contains both quick-acting and slow-release nutrients. Its nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content is balanced, and it is also rich in various trace elements. It can raise ground temperature, enhance soil permeability, promote the activity of beneficial microorganisms, inhibit the growth of pathogens, and effectively reduce pests and diseases. Therefore, before planting, generally 2000 kg of farmyard manure per mu needs to be applied as base fertilizer, while adding 3-4 kg of nitrogen fertilizer and 5-6 kg of phosphorus fertilizer. If the soil is deficient in potassium fertilizer, an appropriate additional 4-6 kg of potassium fertilizer can be applied, which can achieve a significant yield increase effect. Generally, after sufficient base fertilizer is applied, there is no need for additional topdressing in the early growth stage, so heavy application of farmyard manure is important.
3. Reasonable Topdressing
During the growth period, topdressing should be carried out reasonably according to the growth condition of the plants to ensure the nutrients needed for plant growth. Generally, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are used for topdressing. In the early growth stage, compound fertilizer mainly based on nitrogen fertilizer is applied to promote strong plant growth. In the middle and late stages, additional phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are applied, which can enhance the disease resistance of the plants and increase yield. During the cotton maturity stage, foliar spraying can be used to maintain the potassium fertilizer and other elements lacking in the plants, which has a significant yield-increasing effect.
