After rice is transplanted, the leaves turn from green to yellow, and then from yellow back to green; this process is called the green-up stage. This stage determines the number of panicles and lays the foundation for the development of grains per panicle, so it is extremely important. So how should rice be managed during the green-up stage? Let's take a look at the detailed introduction.

After rice is transplanted, the leaves turn from green to yellow, and then from yellow back to green; this process is called the green-up stage. This stage determines the number of panicles and lays the foundation for the development of grains per panicle, so it is extremely important. So how should rice be managed during the green-up stage? Let's take a look at the detailed introduction below.

1. Water level management

After rice is transplanted, shallow water should be maintained to prevent high temperatures from damaging the seedlings and to increase the survival rate. If the water layer is too deep, the new roots of the seedlings will be growing at this time, and the seedlings can easily lose balance in the water, which is not conducive to the roots penetrating downward, and can also cause floating seedlings; in severe cases, stiff seedlings may form. Generally, after transplanting, maintaining a shallow water layer of 2-3 cm can prevent rapid water evaporation at high temperatures from affecting survival, and can also raise the ground temperature and moisture, increase the oxygen content, promote root growth, and shorten the green-up time.

2. Topdressing green-up fertilizer

According to the base fertilizer and the growth condition of the seedlings, 5-7 days after transplanting, 10-15 days of urea can be topdressed per mu, which can promote seedling growth, speed up green-up, make the leaves grow dark green, improve leaf photosynthesis, and synthesize more nutrients. For alkaline soil, ammonium sulfate can be chosen to adjust the pH and promote root growth.

3. Timely weeding

Before rice is planted, the field should be closed for weed control. 5-7 days after transplanting, chemicals such as butachlor and bensulfuron, ethoxysulfuron, and benzothiazolinone can be mixed with the green-up fertilizer, then mixed with fine sand or fine soil and spread promptly. The weeding effect is good. Before spreading, the residues and floating matter in the field should be removed cleanly to avoid affecting the spread of the chemicals and reducing the efficacy, and at the same time water should be retained for about a week to improve the efficacy.

4. Pest and disease control

After rice transplanting, the temperature is not high, and there is also a relatively high amount of rainy weather. The resistance of the seedlings is weak, so they are very susceptible to disease. Therefore, together with spreading the green-up fertilizer, 6-8 jin of 0.5% clothianidin granules per mu can be spread once, which can prevent disease very well. After spreading, shallow water should be maintained for a week to ensure the efficacy and also promote seedling growth. In addition, the rice green-up stage is the main period of thrips damage, and chemicals such as carbosulfan, chlorpyrifos, or imidacloprid can be sprayed for control.
