How to Fertilize Black Soybeans: Latest Technical Method Tutorial
Black soybean is a type of soybean, also known as horse bean, winter bean, and black large bean, named for its black seed coat. Besides being edible, it also has extremely high nutritional value. As its planting area grows wider, do you know its fertilization methods? Come and follow the editor to take a look at the detailed introduction below.
1. Apply sufficient base fertilizer
When the soil is fertile, black soybean, with the nutritional foundation from the early stage, can meet its nutritional needs before the flowering period, so as to emerge and grow strong seedlings as early as possible. The base fertilizer is mainly organic fertilizer. Generally, for plots with medium or insufficient fertility, 1000-1500 kg of decomposed organic fertilizer can be applied per mu; for plots with sufficient fertility, 500-1000 kg of decomposed organic fertilizer per mu is enough. In addition, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizers should be reasonably combined, generally applying 8-10 kg of diammonium phosphate and 10 kg of potassium sulfate per mu. When fertilizing, it can be applied into the bottom of the ridge in combination with land preparation, or applied alongside the seeds when sowing, but it should not be in direct contact with the seeds to avoid burning the roots and killing the seedlings.

After applying sufficient base fertilizer in the early stage, topdressing is generally not needed, but after the black soybean flowers, the demand for fertility is extremely high, so topdressing should be done in time at this point. Topdressing should also be determined according to the soil fertility status, the type of seed fertilizer, and the growth of the black soybean. Generally, for plots with average fertility, 3-5 kg of urea or 6-10 kg of ammonium sulfate can be applied per mu at the initial flowering stage. Spread the fertilizer beside the plants and bury it in combination with intertillage and weeding. For plots with sufficient fertility, if the plants are growing vigorously, nitrogen fertilizer may not be applied to avoid excessive vegetative growth, and some phosphorus and potassium fertilizer can be appropriately applied to increase the plants' resistance to disease and lodging. For poor fertility, topdressing is needed at the seedling stage, generally applying 8-10 kg of diammonium phosphate per mu to promote seedling growth.
3. Foliar topdressing
The leaves of black soybean have a strong absorption function and can absorb both fertilizers and trace elements. During the flowering and podding stage, the demand for fertility is extremely high, and when soil nutrients are insufficient or root absorption is weak, the foliar topdressing method can be used. Foliar topdressing uses a small amount but has a quick fertilizer effect and can solve the plant's urgent need for fertilizer. Types of foliar topdressing include urea, monopotassium phosphate, potassium sulfate, ammonium molybdate, borax, zinc sulfate, and so on. When carrying out foliar topdressing, pay attention to the concentration. Generally, the concentration of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium is about 1%, while the concentration of micro-fertilizers is about 0.01%. It can be sprayed 2-3 times from the initial flowering stage to the pod-filling stage, with an interval of about 10 days each time.
